Why has no one yet posted "DERP", here? What is even happening?

This is so unfair! Donnie had a perfect right to keep all those documents that the FBI planted, and anyway, he declassified them all, secretly, with his very stable genius brain, so he didn't have to turn 'em over in response to the subpoena, because REASONS! And, HUNTER BIDEN!
  • Comment on Oompa Loompa Don (2023-07-10 10:50:33)
I understand how, after all these decades of Mr. Trump's barely concealed criminality, it could easily look like consequences are just a thing that doesn't apply to Don-Don, but... What you need to understand is that over the years, Mr. Trump has avoided criminal liability through a variety of corrupt means. Those tools are no longer available to him, and now he's caught the first of several Federal criminal indictments. There are more coming. And, don't sleep on the indictments that will be coming out in Georgia, come the end of July, or early August. Mr. Trump should hope he gets convicted and sentenced in one of the Federal cases before a Georgia judge sentences him to Georgia state prison... because everyone agrees: Georgia prisons are much worse places to spend time than Federal prisons. His only option to avoid jail time, is to stroke out before he's required to surrender to the BOP, which he may well do. Mr. Trump's tactic of delaying things is also widely regarded as a tool to avoid a bad outcome for himself.. and, that works in civil litigation, but criminal litigation is an entirely different situation. If defendants were allowed to delay things, no one would ever get convicted of anything. The system is not designed to grant defendants much of any power to influence the schedule. Sure, his attorneys will file a variety of motions that will need to be briefed and heard, and such, but that's not really delay... that's just the process.

It's just a little odd that every interesting bit of geology in the English speaking, (and probably Spanish, as well, and maybe others), world gets named Devil's this, or Devil's that?

    Harsh. But entirely fair.
  • Comment on NOVA (2023-06-16 07:19:20)
You shouldn't ever have tried to, you know, make a *turn* in one of these things, but, oh, damn, they could go straight in a pretty damn big hurry.
  • Comment on ‘He’s toast.’ Trump facing 100 years in prison. (2023-06-13 15:51:39)
This bit is from someone who, apparently, has no idea Federal Sentencing Guidelines work. In reality, Trump faces something between about 57 to perhaps as much as 262 months in Federal Prison, if convicted on all counts. But everything depends upon what the Judge decides is appropriate for this particular felon, and the nature of his crimes. TBF: Anything over 5 years, or so, is effectively a life sentence for an obese 76 year old. https://www.justsecurity.org/86901/how-much-prison-time-does-former-president-trump-face-applying-the-u-s-sentencing-guidelines/
  • Comment on The Most Shocking Allegations From Trump’s Damning Indictment (2023-06-11 08:13:47)
Regrettably, there's a better-than-even possibility that Judge Aileen "Loose" Cannon, is going to get the case, and she can, in fact, dismiss it, in a way that is unreviewable, and double-jeopardy will obtain, so that Trump walks away. I'm not trying to be a Debbie-downer... just noting that it is too soon to break out the champagne and claim our democracy is saved. Based on her behavior in the search warrant case, (the lead-up to this case), she's uninterested in the actual law, and only interested in giving Trump a pass. We'll see.
  • Comment on Texas Forced This Woman to Give Birth to a Stillborn Son. She’s Suing (2023-05-23 07:23:27)
The GOP, in general, has become just an extraordinarily vile HOA for women's bodies.

A WELL REGULATED MILITIA, my friends, a WELL REGULATED MILITIA. (To be completely honest, sometimes I wonder if the United States leads the world in gun violence because of, you know, all the damned guns.)

So... that's just 20 days, and 20 nights, right?
  • Comment on Who is piloting this plane? (2023-04-17 08:37:33)
(Given that at least one of the engines isn't turning... that doesn't seem a terribly important question.)
  • Comment on CAMERA (2023-04-13 07:46:47)
Hey... I have a similar model... it was my first 35mm camera. Mine's a slightly improved version, with a ranger finder focuser.

"Might" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.

Wait. Wait. Did the "low-flying pelican" drop the cell phone? Or, is Mr. Harrison simply telling us, in the most round-about way possible that he has the attention-span and self-discipline of a hyper-caffeinated three-year-old, and should not be permitted behind the wheel of any automobile?
