This makes me finally start to doubt Hustler's scientific research correspondents.

I mean, 'zing!', but reading about this game sort of makes me almost want to play it. It's definitely super-ambitious and interesting to read about. Procedurally generated games are the wave of the future! And by future, I mean unfortunately-forgotten-past!

Dogs: Much faster than sluggish human targets, much smaller, and much, much more fierce. Sure, when the thing's on you, you could try pistol jabbing him, but you have a choice: Have a chance to get off your gun or DON'T get your throat ripped out.
  • Comment on Amazing Randi / Daniel Dennett Dammit! (2009-06-12 18:08:28)
I had a pretty awesome run-in with this guy. I went to Anime Weekend Atlanta (believe it or not, my supernerd girlfriend dragged me), and lo and behold, they were holding a Skeptic's Society discussion panel, with like 3 religious guys, a paranormal investigator, a couple scientists, and a couple 'professional' skeptics. The PI was discussing his evidence and proof of psychics and holy shit, Randi steps up to quiz the guy. This guy is smart, Mr. Randi. He dressed this guy down in front of a crowd of about 50 people and about 8 of his peers. Just made everyone realize that this guy was intelligent but full of shit and unwilling to submit his studies to real, peer-reviewed science. Randi even offered to pay for the guy's research if he'd submit his methods for arriving at his results! But no, the guy was a pussy and backed down. Totally awesome.

I just came to the startling and breathtaking realization that you wouldn't be saying any of the things you were saying if you were either A. not born White or B. not as blatantly antagonistic-for-antagonism's-sake-in-a-way-that's-amusing-to-no-one.

Hey, curse words and synonyms for genitalia aren't a substitute for well-thought-out and calmly reasoned arguments based on facts and linkable sources. But we appreciate your ad hominems and baseless accusations anyway.

Hey, I'm going to be the only reply to this question! Or the first of many non-answers to essentially an unanswerable, red-herring matter.

Erm, I think you misunderstood me here. I was saying that in high school, at least mine, whites got special attention when they inevitably got apathetic. Blacks and other minorities were left to fail or barely passed and had their attitudes encouraged. In a county school here, the teachers actually encouraged their minority students to sleep because it meant less work for them. No one who goes to an Ivy League school is really stupid. People give Bush a hard time because his speeching is very poor, but so's Stephen Hawkings. I don't like Bush, but he's not stupid. It serves no one to try to criticize the intelligence of someone you don't know. Try attacking the things they've actually done and believe instead. By making this about race and affirmative action, a conservative only engenders racist thought on both sides. Ad hominem anyone?

People who think that Affirmative Action always places someone ill-equipped where a white, well-equipped person would do better clearly don't understand the point behind Affirmative Action. White people get better grades in public schools on average, most likely because the public school system is racist and privileged. When I went to sleep in high school the teacher would come over to talk to me. When a black kid fell asleep in class the teacher would ignore him/her. Yeah, it's anecdotal, but who here has a counter-anecdote, of a minority student receiving special attention from the teacher willingly and not because law made him/her do it?

  • Comment on Bloodz n Cripz - Know Gangs! (2009-05-06 23:58:17)
@casemods: And if it were left to just style, they'd be no worse than goth kids, scenesters, or the 'grunge movement'. Good? No. A hazard to stable society? Also no.
  • Comment on Bloodz n Cripz - Know Gangs! (2009-05-06 18:10:13)
I mostly blame the illegality of drugs that makes selling them both bloody and an attractive option for otherwise second-hand poor citizens of the US. Not that gangs haven't been around since forever, but trust me, it would help.
