That attitude is exactly how you get mandatory-private-health-insurance-for-most instead of actual universal healthcare like every other country in the world. That attitude is exactly how you get prettier gilded cages for asylum seekers. That attitude is exactly how you get no minimum wage hike for over a decade, but hey, if we are really lucky we might, just maybe, get the hike we should have gotten in 2010 sometime in 2025. Maybe. That attitude is exactly how you get means tested bullshit responses to student loan debt, Covid relief, etc etc ad nauseum. But the absolutely worst thing about it is that that attitude is exactly how you get Trump Mach II. "Vote for us, we may have failed to make any real change when we controlled both houses, but at least we're not Trump" is gonna just work like gangbusters in the midterms though, you betcha.

Howzabout NOT fucking incarcerating assylum seekers at all? I mean I understand if you have investments in private prisons, or if caging kids is your kink, but if not there is zero reason to support this.
