I take great umbrage at the phrase "why so serious". I was thoroughly disgusted at Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Batman is the Dark Knight, and those two movies made a mockery of him. Batman Begins began to take the series back in the correct direction. The darker and grittier, the better. If you want a friendly, nice Batman, maybe the animated series is more your speed.
