More like: "make your own meaning. But some meanings are still pretty stupid." and God is definitely one of them. I personally agree with a lot of what's up there, except he forgot one part: empathy. Objective observation of the world should reveal that other people are prety much like yourself, and you are not intrinsically more important than them. So hurting them is exactly the same as if someone hurt you, and it sucks.

"also, long distance NEVER works. don’t argue, it never works out". That's bollocks. I've had three years of long-distance in my relationship with my now wife. Long-idstance doesn't work often, but it can work. You've just got to put in the effort: talk every day if you can, visit about once a month if you can afford it. And it definitely helps if you've been together in the same place for a little while beforehand. But it can work.

Well there's a difference. When a the military of a democratic country kills civilians, it's a sloppy mistake. When the Taliban/Khmer Rouge do it, it's a deliberate action to purge the unbelievers/subversive bourgeois element. Not that it makes any difference to the victims.
