@NoOneInParticular: dude. The mid-level stuff for almost all the girl's products I mentioned are less than the video game or the (mid level) legos. All ten of the girls items would have to have an average price of $30 just to compensate for an entry-level PS3. The point is girls get more stuff because their stuff is cheaper.

It appears that a mountain of charm bracelet-type doodads are more overwhelming than the bike/skateboard/scooter which lurks out of frame in the boy's room. The earth is most certainly going to crash into the sun. As a parent who has bought gifts for kids of both genders, let me break it down for you, mathematically: littlest pet shop + my little pony + polly pocket + disney princess dress up + dora the explorer dolls + hello kitty bracelets + play make up + baby dolls + barbie playhouse + play kitchen + high school musical DVD < video game system + 1 game + 1 lego package. You ever seen a 4 year old girl try to color-coordinate her OWN clothes? There's a reason most of her toys and dress up stuff is one color. But yeah, I guess I will buy my boy a whole load of pink shit this Christmas, and explain how we're combatting the sexism inherent in the system as he sobs uncontrollably.

its funny: Saying you're a Christian / Muslim / etc = A statement of belief that should be tolerated. Saying you're an atheist = A critique of everyone else's system of belief that invites attack. In Florida, they demanded someone replace their license plate that said "Atheist", while at the same time considering religious-themed license plate backgrounds.

i think religion is rather silly, but the point here was that they ASKED. They didn't demand, they didn't say it was a rule, or was there any sort of implied consequence. I'll save my outrage for the outrageous.
