Yeah, Irma was like that. That's my city. The water got as high as to get into our driveway. That's a 100 year storm, according to FEMA maps. It's been three weeks, and they just now got some of the debris off of our street. Hopefully, it's finished tomorrow, but they were already working overtime when they were doing it. The truck was full, and then it got too dark to do anything. It took a week just to get working Internet/cable TV/phone (VOIP) working in the house. I was tired of living with the damn cell phone.

That's the damn truth. - Comment on GRiD Compass Computer (2017-06-24 12:30:07)
I worked for GRiD. This was after Radio Shack/Tandy bought them, and I was a transfer from training and support since RS/T was pushing GRiD for the business sales. I still have my GRiD laptop, complete with magnesium alloy case. It was the green monochrome LCD one, no modem, like the one shown, none of the other display stuff above the keyboard, and the screen certainly is bigger. Even my plastic cased GRiD laptop (which was black and white LCD) still works. They only run DOS (what can you do with 640KB of RAM today?). The phone was for the modem. And that was probably only 1200 baud, not even the 56K that the plastic GRiD has. Neither one has an Ethernet jack. - Comment on the president is new to this (2017-06-15 22:15:31)

Today, I had an extra ')' in a Powershell program. Total length, 12 lines. Nothing like spending an hour to find out what the problem was. I thought my editor had a "Find mismatched brace/paren", but I couldn't find it. Of course, the line with the extra ')' wasn't even showing as an error to begin with, so, why would I look at that line? fml - Comment on Surprise proposal (2017-05-24 23:22:20)

Nothing is settled yet, not the music in the video, not even what the ship will look like. This is something that they threw together in 3 weeks, looking like it was based on the Enterprise that McQuarrie made for Phase II. Wiki file - Comment on Local 58 - Weather Service (2016-07-04 22:52:17)

I think Bernie got further than he ever could imagine he could get. His trouble is, as this graphic shows, he always came in second. And close doesn't count here, it's neither a game of horseshoes, nor is it a thermonuclear device. The has been plenty of talk about how he might possibly win over super delegates. His problem with that is that he never came in first in any measure that he could show those people that he was actually better than Hillary. The only measure that he could show was that he beat Trump by more points. It's going to be a blood bath for the Republicans, even if the Democrats were running Jimmy Carter at this point. So I don't understand how that is supposed to be so great. He's done. What's truly amazing is that without Bernie running, Clinton would have been called too far left for most. Instead, he's driven her even further left. And people are drinking it up. Also, fuck Bernie dudes and dudettes. I'm tired of the #NotHillary shit. It's time for them (and Bernie) to grow up. - Comment on I got this message when I tried to upload a pic (2016-05-31 22:45:46)

Republicans are nuts. Not only would Jesus not be acceptable today, but even Saint Ronnie (which they all love to bring up!) would not be electable today. Truth. Also, extremely sad at how polarized US politics is, even though both parties pretty much agree on 98% of the rest of the political bullshit, whether it's good or bad. - Comment on Challenger (2016-04-21 22:58:34)
Wish I still owned my '73 318 Challenger. Red with black vinyl roof. It would be insufferable here in Florida without A/C, but I would suffer and enjoy it. Too bad it got totaled 38 years ago, technically not my fault, but I shouldn't have been out that day on the road, regardless. Nothing like a 3/4 ton pickup (complete with a full bed full of firewood) unable to stop on slick ice and rearended me. - Comment on Welcome to the new server! (2016-03-22 10:20:14)
I'm not hiding my useragent or referrer that I'm aware. It might be an extension, trying to make me safe, so, I'll play with it when I get the chance. - Comment on Welcome to the new server! (2016-03-21 16:17:26)
Yeah, that would explain things. It certainly is trying to load from img.myconfinedspace.com.
