maxcw - thanks for that brilliant insight - I will now borrow from Alec's line of thought and adjust it to my own uses if I may. Just because you've never run across it doesn't mean you can universally state that it doesn't happen. And yes, I am well acquainted with the apply button as opposed to x-ing out the window. Ok - so I consider myself fairly warned that anything i say can and most assuredly will be used against me. However, I can't just let that go unanswered. I live in both the Mac and PC worlds and I have to say I far prefer the Mac world for several reasons, but the largest currently is Microsoft thinking they can alter the settings of my computer without asking me. Specifically, although I have gone into the control panel settings on several occasions and told Windows Updater to download updates but give me the option to install them, or more recently just to tell me there are updates due to incessant problems, somehow miraculously I occasionally attempt to return to whatever work I had open on the PC only to find that it has been restarted after updates were downloaded and installed for me. Thanks very much Microsoft, but I have independent contractor work that I will occasionally leave and return to later and I'd very much like the programs to still be open where I left them so I can continue to work. I don't think that's too much to ask for. No, I'm not stupid enough to have walked away without saving my work, that's not the point. I bought and paid for both the system and , regrettably, the OS that came with it. I believe, apparently mistakenly, that I should have control over my own computers. Call me crazy. However, I would like to point out that even with all the hate mongering that goes on here for both sides of the argument, I have thus far resisted the urge to speak my mind. I know that won't get me many points, but whatever.
