Hemp pretty much kicks cotton's ass as a crop grown for fiber. Cotton requires tons of pesticides, and has relatively short, weak fibers. Hemp, grows like a weed (sorry, couldn't miss the pun), and the fiber harvested is of much better quality. I don't think cotton farmers had quite as much to do with it getting banned as much as the puritanical movement in America did at the time, but there is an interesting old US Govt made film promoting hemp as an important crop for US farmers to grow: Hemp for Victory - Comment on veerrrryyyy interesting... Like the others have said, start with the latest reboot, the 2005 series. http://epguides.com/DoctorWho_2005/ Most if not all are on usenet or the usual sources. Once you're hooked and if you have a stomach for old brit scifi dramedy, then you can chase down the older ones. Netflix has some of them both on disk and streaming. - Comment on Homebrew mead. I've done ales and ciders, but I mostly retired from it too for various reasons. Although, I am just getting back into cidering. I just planted a half dozen apple trees and plan on making a cider press this coming year. - Comment on Defensive Carnist (2011-01-04 18:50:57)
There needs to be a better term for folks who don't eat meat for reasons other than those intertwined with the term vegan. - Comment on The Void (2010-11-16 01:36:24)

Dude, might wanna censor that wishlist a little. A 6-pack of sriracha and orange/ginger lotion sounds like one helluva birthday party. It puts the lotion on it's skin, or else it gets the hose again! (happy b-day) - Comment on I have changed things (2010-09-02 09:52:24)
Speed, timeouts and server errors seem to have improved. But all the regular posts are still showing up on the NSFW feed. - Comment on Todays paycheck (2010-08-31 09:26:57)
Actually, that's pretty darn close to my paycheck (tax withholding) for the last 2 weeks. Almost.
