I love this movie, but you've nailed the problem; it wasn't the story anyone wanted to watch. It is truly a beautifully chaotic and frightening story (in the way that the child recognizing how little control he has in the world is emotionally frightening), but people weren't expecting that. People expected a kid's movie, not an adults movie that reminds adults how difficult it is to be a kid.

I live about a quarter mile off the Blanco River, downstream from Wimberley. We were dry, but the neighbors got wet. I know a couple people who lost their cars. We were lucky -- our power was out for only a couple days. And my daughter was able to catch a live fish with her bare hands outside our home the next day, so we got a bit of protein out of the deal.

The only correct answer is 3=3, with the accompanying explanation that whoever made this doesn't understand what an exact language mathematics is and got all their other equations horribly wrong. If it had said f(8)=56, f(7)=42, etc..., then there would have been a math problem here to solve. Sorry, you can't afford not to be pedantic in mathematics.
