First one looks like 7.62mm x 39mm rounds, the stuff used in ak's. The second picture looks like either 25mm or 30mm rounds, hard to tell since theres nothing use as a scale.

Howitzers fire slower rounds at high elevations for greater range, while tanks shoot very high speed rounds in direct fire rolls. Modern howitzers usually have much larger and longer barrels than tanks since accuracy at range is critical. Also the ammunition is very different between the two types of ordnance.
