Oh wait a sec. If if weren’t for the French we’d all be Muslim (came down to one battle actually). But that was before America existed so why would Americans care? I mean there wouldn’t be an America…it’d have an Arabic name. But none the less…um..lol?
It’s technically a viaduct and it is awe inspiring. Go ahead and make fun of it, but there is no way that something that cool would be built in America these days.
Oh, and I think the battle that mmAgnUS BUTTfoorson referred to was The Battle of Tours. And it was the Germans (Franks and Burgundes) that defeated the forces of Islam that time. Lebe lang Deutschland! heh
Shit, the French could’ve held off the Germans for months during World War II, but did they listen to Charles de Gaulle and keep the tanks in tight clusters? Noooo…
Well by that logic Don anything before a certain time was done by the Germans (tribe wise). The Franks became the French.
All you ever hear in the states is that they fucked up in WW2. Well so did America by cherry picking until the ball was 98% down the field already. Then you bombed your way a goal and claimed victory for America. Without those 27 million dead Ruskies you’d be saluting ze Fazerland right now.
Yeah, but those 27 million dead Russkies were mainly killed by their superiors. Purges FTL.
Watch Enemy At The Gates and note how Russian officers were wasting bullets gunning down retreating “Comrades.”
Compound that with the quote from Stalin that says “It takes more courage in the Russian army to retreat than to advance,” and you have a good inkling of why so many were killed.
a long time ago, France conquered Britannia, but left a few Englishmen in charge. If it werent for whoever was in charge at the time, we wouldnt be speaking English English, German, nor even Ruskienese, but instead… FRENCH!
One never speaks of the Frankish Emperor Napoleon, or the French Emperor Charlemagne. History makes a distinction, so do I. But the French are a silly people, much like the people of Camelot. Btw, the Germans also sat on the British throne (George I). Is not everyone mixed up? ahhh
Sticky, Hollywood is not the best place to get your historical information. (see Star Wars 1-6)
LOL @... phil. Profound truth strikes again. We must all listen to phil.
phil on July 9th, 2007 12:23 pm If it weren’t for France, the U.S. would have lost the Revolutionary War and we’d all be speaking English today.
And the retarded post of the day goes to…PHIL, *applauase and cheering* for not knowing the official language of America, which is indeed English.
What Sticky said:

What Sticky should have said:
“You guys are right. Phil’s joke went totally over my head, even though it was the funniest in the thread and I was an ignorant dick for calling the post retarded. Thanks for pointing that out, I’ll try to be more aware of sarcasm as it is an important part of conversation. Also I forgot the difference between a de facto language and an official language. Also I will never again try to use a Hollywood movie as a reference to actual historical events. Sorry, my mistake.”
When you are wrong, man up (and admit that you are wrong) or shut up.
1) The wars of French revolution. We don’t hear much about this, but during the 1790s France was constantly shooing off invaders
2) As for WWII, I’ll remind you that Hilter wasn’t easy to defeat, and France was the second country he attacked. I’m just going to point out that that was a rather lengthy war, and I doubt any one country could have single-handedly taken on the Axis, except, I’ll remind you, the UK, half of which was reduced to rubble in the process.
3) At one point France was one of the great Empires, having held at different times large amounts of territory on every continent but Australia and Antarctica.
4) Look up the history of the house of Anjou sometime.
5) Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan is a hole, Korea, which was international, was a draw. Really, the only war America has managed to win since the big one is against itsy bitsy backwards nations still in the stone age. Tell me what wars America has won without outside assistance.

United-Statians are funny.. Not only they were stupid enough to vote for Bush once, but they did it twice.. After that, they blame the French for being smarter than them.
lol

Excellent, at least this will be a good war prize for the Germans. Who wants the crappy eiffel tower?
It’s technically a viaduct and it is awe inspiring. Go ahead and make fun of it, but there is no way that something that cool would be built in America these days.
I want the Eiffel Tower. I have the perfect place for it in my backyard. **Prepares to declare war on France**
And I think reboot is right, the U.S. does not build anything cool anymore.

Need I say more? lol 🙂
Enemy at the Gates, while a cool little movie, is hardly a good reference for facts.
They couldn’t retreat for the most part because they froze to death. So did a lot of Germans. Then there was the whole scorched earth thing.
Regardless, while all that was going on Hitler was being heralded as a hero stateside.
Yes you need say more. That link is laughably inaccurate. Did a 12 year old C student write that up based on wiki entries he skimmed?
www.historyofjihad.org/france.html
btw
that link has some crazy stuff on it but the factual points are in good order.
The hate speech though…that’s a little much. Worth reading through for a laugh.
It’s called humor.

More than half of English is Latin via French anyway. We’re already speaking French (and Greek and German and…).

Well we never speak of this either…

Because we’re not supposed to know.
heh neat. Along the line of things we are not supposed to know…
Wilbur Wright was not the first to fly a powered airplane. It was Gustave Weisskopf… a German. HA!

Sticky, meet sarcasm. Sarcasm, meet Sticky. Also there is no “official language of America”
I think you need some help reboot. **Hands reboot a cluebat** for use on Sticky. Make sure to get the Hollywood history beaten out of him as well.
So I guess Americans have no language at all! Funny. We seem to be conversing in some sort of organized combination of letters.

EvilDon posted while I was typing with a response that is far more academic.
academic != funny
ONCE AGAIN, REBOOT FTW!!
Well, when the French retreat, they’ll be walking, not running. Apparently, running is an American habit, a capitalist activity for right-wing individualists.

Sorry, not the second, but one of the first
Gee, that’s a really nice bridge. I’m glad I posted it.
That bridge leads to conflict. It’s an evil bridge.

This whole thread makes me laugh. Does anyone think that French bridge will fly?
