“The U.S. Flag Code states, “The flag, when it is in such a condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferable by burning.” After your flag has been burned, the ashes should be buried.”
Its all in HOW it is done. This isn’t exactly the most respectful I’ve seen, seeing as how pieces are falling to the ground, but it’s better than throwing them in the trash.
My preferred way, which I saw in a ceremony when younger, is to fold the flag for storage, keep it off the ground until burning, and burn it completely in a large, hot fire. If it is too large, cut it into smaller pieces, but NEVER cut apart the field of stars.
A ceremony is one of only two ways to destroy a flag that are acceptable. (The other is for bandages in battle)
i like to wipe feces from my anus on flags, then partially flush them down the toilet, and when it doesn’t go all the way down i will then pull it out again and take it outside, soak it in diesel, then light it on fire. when the fire is too big, i will then put it out with fertilizer and meat-compost. after that i’ll toss it in the alley.
I actually knew a guy that used pages ripped out of the Koran to wipe his ass when he was in Saudi Arabia. He said it was softer than the their regular toilet paper there.
Who taught them how to respectfully retire a flag? Chucking it into a fire is hardly respectable. In the ones I’ve seen, it’s lowered into a campfire. For larger flags, you cut it up into stripes and the star field. Then you salute it as it burns. You can even give a blurb about what the flag symbolizes, etc. All in all, it should be ceremonious.
This is not a form of protest or anything…

It’s better to burn out, than to fade away.
More respectful than letting it get tattered and faded out of some ignorant sense of loyalty to a specific scrap of fabric.
So wait?….Flag burning is seen as one of the biggest insult to a country / culture, yet it’s the preferred method of disposal? I are confusered

Fuck all this patriotic pride bullshit.
THIS.
or you can take them to your local fire department or vfw. They are usually quite happy to retire your aging flag.
OH NOES A PIECE OF FABRIC IS BURNING!
I swear, nationalism is one of worst things that plague mankind today.
It is. It’s so stupid. It leads to assumptions of greatness that are, at best, exaggerated.
Nationalism is perfectly acceptable
being a psychotic flag-waving zealot is not
Holy fuck something i actually agree with your racist ass on Her Kommissar.
The fact that there is a U.S. Flag Code at all amuses me.
Burn muthafucka burn :>
