Should it be as a normal post on the front page? or should it be linked to from the sidebar? or not shown on the front page at all, and only listed on the nsfw.myconfinedspace.com subdomain?
[edited to say: the reason I bring this up, is that I was getting a little frustrated with 2 or 3 back to back posts that were not much more then just a link to another page. seems like I’m pageview whoring.]
The way it is now.
I too like it the way it is now.
i fear change also.
I think it should appear plainly in the front page, who here really has a problem with it? we are fuckin crazy bastards who like porn
I like to browse MCS at work, and I think the way it is now works just fine.
If I was too suggest an improvement I wonder if it might be good to have a “Show NSFW content” button? It could awlays be set to off, and if you click it it would show the NSFW content along with the SFW content, but only for that session.
Thoughts?
This.
this.
This will not be happening, Google doesn’t want their adverts show on any NSFW pages.
I also like the way it is now.
Leave it as is! So say we all!!
Change scares all!
I think the way it is now is good. Fark has a sister site called foobies.com where they’ve moved all of their {x:X | XX | XXX}. I’m sure Drew doesn’t get as much revenue on that site (not like he needs it) but it’s out of site, out of mind for most non-Farkers.
If nothing else, I think that if you’re going to relocate the NSFW content from the main page, you should at least do something about it posting to the RSS feed.
NSFW content doesn’t go to the main RSS feed. It has it’s very own feed yo.
Yeah leave it the same, although i hate all the ads on the NSFW, they are just so blatant with boobs in your face, asses in the air, and wanting you to try the old Virtual Valerie type game…
I agree, I’ve been looking for an alternative to my current NSFW advertising system, but there’s really not a whole lot of them out there.
I say leave it as it is, this works and most of us are now used to it. If you are looking to change something I liked being able to see comments listed on the main page instead of having to click thru.
Change is a scary beast.
I quite like it the way it is now; so we can watch this beautiful site at work and are allthemore eager to go home and watch the sweet bits:)
Here is my take on it… I work on web content filtering software for work. Currently MCF isn’t being blocked for NSFW material don’t ask me why but maybe its because it doesn’t get that many reviews from people. The advantage of adding a NSFW sub-domain would be that Web Content Filters at peoples work could filter NSFW.myconfinedspace.com and let the www.myconfinedspace.com stay open to people at work. Treating it just as a blog site. I love the site and have been subscribing to the RSS for a while now I would rather have MCF watered down instead of no MCF at all.
you make me cry with your speak of ‘mcf’
MCS yo. M C S.
/sob
You can add a My[confined]Face domain.
HAHA my bad I was trying to pour a bunch of sh@t into one post and didn’t spell check… I BOW DOWN TO THE MCS GODS!!!! But from a network web page blocking point of view it will be easier to get your site unblocked (if it ever gets blocked) if you have a whole sub domain that host the NSFW stuff. As an example craigslist in general is opened up to most people at my work. While Craigslist.com/ers (the hookers) is blocked because of adult content. It would be easy to apply that same logic to MCS.
hah, it’s ok ;P
the original reason for the NSFW subdomain was Google complaining about their adverts on the nsfw stuff…so I figured that it’d be best to just remove it all and put it in it’s own little world
Yeah I use google reader and it might be that they pull the links down directly. Here is a screen shot of an example. igazine.com/Screenshot.png warning its NSFW 🙂
gah, wtf. that’s not showing up in the feed. seriously, I just checked it and that content is not in the feed’s source.
what feed are you subscribed to there?
Alright so I just checked the details on my google reader subscription it looks like it points to this…
www.myconfinedspace.com/feed/
But then after popping that into my browser bar it looks like it redirects to this.
feeds2.feedburner.com/MyConfinedSpace
So I guess the feedburner.com link is the one that it gets sent to…
it ain’t broke… don’t fix it
Can’t think of a better setup (for all concerned parties) than what you have now; keep as is.
i liek the ways it is now. the only gripe i has is that “NSFW” is a little ambiguous when it is used in this sector of the intertoobs, because sometimes i click over and i can’t figure out why it is NSFW, but then i’ll see a nipple on the main site.
however, i am ok with it
you should not be seeing nipples on the main page. where’s a nipple.
I’ll fix that shit yo.
Yeah I get them off of the main RSS feed to… It’s not that big of a deal but something you might check out. Here is the link I subscribe too www.myconfinedspace.com/feed/
as of this post here :
nsfw content is not in the main feed that you just mentioned. are you still seeing nsfw content in that feed? cause I’m subscribed to it too, but I ain’t seeing anything.
I like it as is.
Another vote for keep it as is.
I would prefer that all the NSFW content only appear on nsfw.myconfinedspace.com, but it would also be fine for it to not be inlined into the RSS feed. (I normally read MCS through an RSS reader and click through to rate images and comment. Having NSFW content show up as a hyperlinked “NSFW” would be fine.)
it would be nice if when you went to the nsfw site if everything was not still behind a cut
as far as I can tell, once you click through to nsfw.myconfinedspace.com/ nothing’s behind a cut, it’s all out in the open
I think its good the way it is, however, I think there should be a feature like the rating where we can give feedback as to whether it is actually NSFW.
Also, I think there should be some kind of system more reliable than tags to tell if this is a porn kind of NSFW, a controversial kind of NSFW, or if its bizarre and something you cant unseen. I have almost gone blind many times at this point when I thought I was going to get eye candy.
At first, I thought I would like that NSFW posts opening in their own NSFW sidebar was okay, but it was kind of annoying.
The posts as they used to be, in the main feed, clearly stated NSFW. What’s the problem? Ya don’t want to see it, don’t open it!
Any way to keep the non-NSFW ads from running on NSFW pages to keep the companies advertising happy and return NSFW to the original page feed?
