My weezilz. Figured i\’d share since they seem to be popular. And yes i\’m still bored at work. Starting at 12 o\’clock and going clockwise. Chewy, Jenn, Kiki, Roscoe. I also have two I don\’t have pics of. Cosmo and Mike.
Fun pets. Smell horrible. Not for those that don’t have time to spend with their pets. Seek attention, and will take it out with surprise attacks and hiding your shit.
Oh they are a trip. Well. Were. Sadly those pics are old. (this was just random crap I found on my webserver while I was bored at work after all) So all but one of these original four have died over the years. Jenn is the only one of those that’s still around, and she’s over 9 now. Mike, the youngest I have is 6, and cosmo is 7. Don’t have pics of the last two. But whats funny is the 9 year old one is still the most energetic of the bunch, but all are geriatric by ferret standards now though. I probably won’t have any more after these. They’ve always had their own room, and I need the space.
I would love to have a pet ferret. Are they expensive to buy/keep? what do they eat? do you recommend getting more than one (so they have some company)?
It all depends on your situation. They do require a good deal of work to not stink up your whole house, (though if you have 6 at once like I did, it’s going to happen anyway) They also are very social critters that need lots of attention and interaction. They usually sleep 18-20 hours a day but when they are awake they’re like the aftermath of 2 year olds who’ve been been given about 5 lbs of candy each, and they’re going to want to play with YOU. As far as how many, that depends on you. If you don’t have at least 3-4 hours a day to be able to play with them, get 2, so they can keep each other occupied, though you still need to spend some time interacting with them every day.
If your serious about ferrets then get ‘ferrets for dummies’ even though I hate for dummies books. It’ll actually let you know what your getting yourself in to, and what problems you can expect down the road as far as cancers and other ailements that afflict aging ferrets.
My ex had two ferrets, they were cute but they were high-maintenance and shit everywhere. They’d intentionally try to shit outside their cage past the tray below. It was nasty as hell.
All mine are/were fairly well litterbox trained. They didn’t stay couped up in a cage, they had their own room. Since ferrets won’t crap where they eat or sleep, unless its the absolute last resort, it kind of sounds like your gf had them in too small of a cage.
Hard to do. Ferrets aren’t very cuddly unless they’re comatose in the death sleep. If they’re conscious they will be trying their best to move at high speed and get into/run off with anything they can.

I agree whole heartedly.

Must be fun when they all war dance.
Have you ever eating one?

so cute :O I would forcibly hug one anyway against its will
My mother used to breed ferrets when I was a kid. They are awesome pets, yes. 🙂 And absolutely adorable as babies.
