@...TunaFish: Nemesis was pretty good, if only for the character interaction. I thought Nemesis was pretty mediocre, though not nearly as bad as First Contact.
The new Star Trek is a good action movie, but the whole alternate-timeline reboot thing was just too bullshitty to swallow for me.
@...deuce: First Contact. Bad. Are you serious? Its only behind The Wrath of Khan and on a par with The Undiscovered Country in terms of the best Star Trek movie’s
And I for one love the alternate timeline in the new movie, best way they could have possibly rebooted the franchise. Remember that there were alternate timelines in trek before aswell (the mirror universe, anyone?) so the alternate timeline in the new movie isn’t actually all that bullshity in the context of previous Star Trek plots
At this point I’d be surprised if even one of the DS9 cast agrees to be in a Trek movie. They’ve all moved on. Some of the actors are genuinely old now.
Also…yeah. First Contact is easily the best TNG movie. It’s certainly in the top three.
Truth be told, I don’t understand everyone’s love for Khan. VI was easily the best TOS movie, followed probably by IV.
As for where the new film will wind up in the hierarchy of things, that’s anyone’s guess, but initial estimates probably boot one of the aforementioned out of the top three.
@...TunaFish: First Contact sucked ass… the whole “go back in time and influence the first warp speed travel” thing was fucking retarded. A loner with a useless assistant and a junked ICBM somehow manage to envision and create a warp drive? Telling the guy where his statue would be? Riding along with him? I realize that any time travel plot requires a certain suspense of disbelief, but that was far too big a pill to swallow.
Also, if the Borg really had the ability to go back in time and change history, wouldn’t the entire universe already be completely fucked?
I had a whole big comment typed out, then I go and lose connection.
basically what I said is this, First Contact, despite having some big plot holes, was a great Trek movie for these reasons:
1. Giving us a brilliant Villain (and brilliant bad guys in general)
2. Letting Picard go ‘action hero’
3. The secondary characters all had good parts (Troi, LaForge, Worf, Crusher)
4. The Enterprise – E
Star Trek 6 was the last good movie that had TOS cast in it. First Contact was the only good movie with TNG crew in it. Star Trek 2009 is the best movie yet.
isn’t it called Gala-Uniform?
(don’t throw me in a Tar-Pit if I’m wrong)
Jean-Luc is awesome!
oh man, remember when Star Trek was good?
Insurrection adn Nemesis weren’t as bad as people made out. The reboot is all kinds of awesome

@... TunaFish: No it is stilly bull shitty
I want my damned DS9 movie damn it.
before they have to recast odo because the actor dies of old age.

@...deuce: Tell me, at least, that you hated the fuck out of the one where they went back in time to save the whales.
Um, First Contact kicked fucking ass! Um, the Borg? Hello – coolest villains ever!
