It was book cover. I love the foreign names for these books so much. “Der Wusten Planet” “Kindern van Duin”
Anyone who hasn’t read Dune suck unless they have a very real intention to at the very least red the fist book and to further read the rest because they will surely b interested and if they don’t they suck harder.
@...RSIxidor: I <3 that book. There is also a film in production that is due out in 2010. If done properly I believe it will be an incredible piece of work, though it will most likely pale in comparison to the awesomeness that is David Lynch.
here is the Jacket Text for Winds for anyone with a Spice Boner:
After the reign of Muad’Dib, an empire begins to crumble.
Paul Muad’Dib – cheered as a hero, worshipped as a messiah, hated as a tyrant – has vanished into the endless deserts of the planet Dune, leaving his turbulent empire without guidance. Now it’s up to his young sister Alia and his formidable mother, the Lady Jessica, aided by the faithful Gurney Halleck, the Fremen leader Stilgar and the resurrected Duncan Idaho, to keep the human race from tearing itself apart.
Fuelling the flames of dissent is the outspoken rebel, Bronso of Ix, doing everything he can to destroy the myth of Paul Muad’Dib, the man responsible for more deaths than any other in history.
Working with Princess Irulan, Jessica tries to uncover the truth about her son. As the winds of rebellion and treachery brew, she discovers that Muad’Dib may have knowingly planted the seeds for his own downfall. And that Bronxo of Ix has a secret mission of his own, one that will force Jessica to choose between the memory of her son and the future of the human race.
Though I will accept that his son’s work is not as good as his, the original set of books are masterpieces. The whole series, and especially the first four books, will always be held as great science fiction. ARE YOU MAD!?! YOU MUsT BE MAD!
i read 3 1/2 of the Dune books. then i couldn’t take it anymore. the first three are excellent. the movie was good- but left out SO MUCH of the book. i think a movie would have to be 3 parts at the least.
@...dieAntagonista:
No, but you said that you needed to get rid of your accent. Plus I think it’d be fun to talk to you. It wasn’t a slam on you in any way.
One time, I sang a Yiddish song, in front of roughly 100 people from my town. It was the first time I have ever done that, my old ballet teacher called me because some other girl got sick. They gave some sort of small concert, which they often do.
Anyway, they all applauded like furious at the end, and one woman who sat in the second row started crying.
What I’m trying to say is, I still rule and your ears are probably not even worthy of my voice anyway.
The song was “Bei Mir Bist Du Schön” by the way. So far, The Andrews Sisters’ interpretation of it, is by far superior to every other one I have ever heard.
@...dieAntagonista: They most likely applauded because the torment was finally over. The poor woman in the second row could no longer take the sounds that were quite similar to that of a cat in heat that she gave way to tears of agony. I sympathize with her as I would most likely prefer taking a cheese grater to my own ears rather than undergo such torture. Hehe. I’m sure it was a lovely little concert.
You should see mine then. The more tired I am when I come home, the more likely my sneakers are to just disappear. I get up after I took a nap and bada boom bada bang they’re gone! It’s the same every time. I could have sworn I kicked one into the bathroom and the other into the living room, what the hell.
pc or movie or concept art?
@...token2k6: I think it might have been a book too.
Maybe
But you’re prolly talking about the image. So I’ll go be an asshole somewhere else
Think it was cover art for one of the original books, done post-Lynch flick.
They obviously aren’t walking without rhythm.
It’s all about the spice baby
@...Neuromancer: If they have attracted the worm due to walking, it is because they were walking with rhythm, and not as you say without it.

@...Paul_Is_Drunk: Agreed.

NOT AGREED

DER SCHLAFENDE MUSS ERWACHEN
Anyone who loves Dune and understands German, is obligated to listen to “Krieger” by Die Fantastischen Vier and have their mind blown.
And after that listen to “Millionen Legionen” by the same band and have your mind blown a second time.
Or listen to it anyway and look up the translation.
Or learn German and then listen to it.
@...dieAntagonista:
/me wishes I understood German, but by the time the effort is put forth I’ll forget the songs
One and Two are good. Three is OK. Four is a box full of pain, only worth reading if you are a superfan, but Chapterhouse is as good as the first.
I have enjoyed the son’s works, but only as an excellent work of fanfic.
@...RSIxidor:
You could just look up the translation and then listen to the songs you lazy bastard.
Hm, I could have sworn suicydking said he found the translation for Millionen Legionen but I can’t find one for either of those songs.
You know what, I’ll translate them myself, and post them on last.fm.
Because I rule.
@...dieAntagonista:
If you were perchance to get on Skype I could give you English lessons. 😀
My qualifications are being in accelerated english programs in high school and having no accent.
@...Sticky: Why? :l
I thought my grammar is fine. Aw.
You know I wasn’t actually going to sing those songs in English, just translate the lyrics.
@...dieAntagonista:
No, but you said that you needed to get rid of your accent. Plus I think it’d be fun to talk to you. It wasn’t a slam on you in any way.
@...dieAntagonista: Thank God you won’t be singing. I really wasn’t in the mood to start bleeding from my ears.
@...Tetsuo137:

@...Sticky:
I never said I need to get rid of my accent. Just that it makes me sound vulnerable.
I am going to take advantage of that as long as I can, because I’m manipulative and young.
@...dieAntagonista:
Oh, you manipulative woman, you.
@...Tetsuo137: Predictable.
I still think my equation of this worm stands.
Watch out for the drum sand.
@...dieAntagonista:
Do not ever get rid of your accent or I will be very, very, unhappy.
@...Tetsuo137:
You, sir, are a big pile of shitake mushrooms.
@...reptilecobra13:
You, sir, rock.
Where is sylvanish?
@...RSIxidor:
Sir yes sir.
And no he’s not a big pile of shitake mushrooms. He was just poking fun at me for the sake of poking fun at me.
Although I am going to steal that insult.
Sneakier than sneakers.
@...dieAntagonista:
Sneakers really aren’t all that sneaky. Especially if you’re on an indoor court.
@...RSIxidor:
You should see mine then. The more tired I am when I come home, the more likely my sneakers are to just disappear. I get up after I took a nap and bada boom bada bang they’re gone! It’s the same every time. I could have sworn I kicked one into the bathroom and the other into the living room, what the hell.
@...RSIxidor: I bite my thumb at you sir!
@...dieAntagonista:
First mistake: Removing shoes in to two separate rooms.
But then again, they might more easily collaborate on your doom.
@...Tetsuo137:
I wiggly my left littlest toe at you!
I’m glad it randomized me to this post. I like Dune.
i just finished Chapterhouse yesterday and i’ve started re-reading Hunters of Dune
Duncan Idaho is such a badass
