I’m with you on the open mind thing- however, a good yardstick of a character is culture intake.
For instance- not knowing Bluto means that his parents didn’t care properly for his nutrition because we all know the only way to get a child to eat his greens.

Either way, I think you will find enough examples in all genres, that prove that talent and common sense are not necessary for becoming famous. So what.
For all you know he could be listening to lyrical geniuses. I know I do. Whether it’s music or not is really not the problem. Hip hop artists have had an immense influence on non hip hop artists and non hip hop genres, to just dismiss it altogether as non music is ridiculous.
Personally, I think the best music comes from Americaland.
If you grew up here in my country, you’d be surrounded by people who listen to nothing but techno. I guess that makes me an elitist as well but can you blame me. And if you listen to hip hop you’re considered a criminal. I mean, literally.
I’ll take America over this place any time.

There are geniuses in Hip-Hop, I know that, I listened to some even, but like most musical genres, there’s a lot of shity artists in the mainstream.
