Welcome to yet another Marvel #1 that drops you right into the middle of a story with no explanation on what the fuck is going on. I give up Marvel, you’re the worst.
This was a good story with great art, but I have no clue why Thor is a woman, no clue why she was in a cancer ward as a patient, on idea why Odin was killing his own wife, where the “real” Thor was. Nothing was said about who this ‘council of the realms’ is, why they’re doing what they’re doing and why in the hell Roxxon Petroleum is in league with Dark Elves that are dropping bodies into low orbit around earth. I would read the second volume to maybe find out more, but it’s not included with Prime and this experience makes me feel the $15 they’re asking for V2 is not worth it.
Also as another frustration, I read this from Kindle because it was part of my overpriced Prime account. There’s about 5 or 6 double page “splash pages” that in a normal comic books are pretty damn impressive and are absolutely fantastic, but the Kindle app doesn’t rotate the way you would expect it to, it only supports double tapping the screen and it does a pretty nift super zoom that crops all the interesting parts of the art out in favor of just the words. If you thought you’d be able to pinch and zoom, well buddy have I got some sad news for you.
In all honestly the comics I download from shady pirate sites and read through other apps give me a better experience than this crap. I’m giving up on the kindle app for comics and my next one that I try will be through the Comixology app, which is also owned by Amazon, but designed by a different team.
You say you have no clue….maybe read it! Great story arc.
I did read it, there were no hints.
