God I love Texas. Houston baby! I survived Ike bitches. Lived in New Jersey, Penn, NY and more and Texas is the best. IMO if you live anywhere else you are a fag fucker.
(quoting FUll Metal Jacket) Where you from PVT… Texas holy sheep shit you know what they keep in Texas… Steers and Queers private, how tall are you… Holy shit I didn’t know they stacked shit that high.
I just like how every Texan thinks Texas is the number 1 place to be… sweet hats though
Its funny, I live pretty much dead center in Texas, and I’ve driven all the way along I-10 from exit 0 to exit 510, so I could see how many exits there were.
You know what I REALLY think is the best thing about Texas? That you can see cattle, actual LIVESTOCK on the side of the road as roadkill, and see that nobody else really cares.
Yeah, I’m one of those Texas guys. Yeah, I think it’s the best place to be in the world. Yeah, I’ve been to lots of other places and yes, I will admit, that there are a lot of cool things outside of TX & the US, but pound-for-pound, nothing’s as awesome as TX.
FYI, it takes less time to drive from El Paso, TX to Los Angeles, CA than it does to drive from El Paso, TX to Beaumont, TX and to drove from Dalhart, TX to South Padre Island. Doesn’t mean much, but it’s interesting to me.
Oh, also FYI, I’m from Tyler (self-proclaimed though widely-recognized Rose Capital of the World), wife’s from Dallas, and we now live in Houston. All that and my cousin’s the Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week from Baylor in Waco, TX – doesn’t get much more Texis than that. Yeehaw.
I was born in Houston and have lived in the suburbs around here for most of my life. But even when I went to college, I went to good ‘ol College Station, aTm, where I fucked about 43 girls over my 5 year tenure there.
Thats one thing I can say about Texas, is there is definitely something about the girls here that puts them a notch above everywhere else in this country…
Plus, we all drive pick-up trucks, own guns, chew dip, listen to only country music, go muddin’ and rodeo!!
Been mudding before when I had a jeep now I have a car.
Been to rodeo a few times but had no choice becuase of work
Not a fan of country music
I do have two guns – .45 and a 12 gauge
I’ve chewed before and not a fan
I do like whiskey and beer and bbq.
Only thing I hate about Texas, most specifically Houston, is the weather. It’s horrible in the summer.
I lived in Corpus Christi for a couple of years, great people, shitty place. The whole state is way too flat. Needs mountains. Public land would be nice too.
As much as I hate about Texas (esp. being Vegan) there is something about it that is very endearing. I live in Dallas, but if I chose to live in Texas all my life, probably would move to Austin area or stay here. Just lots of cool shit in Austin, and Dallas is comfortable (born and raised).
I will never ever live in Houston, though. Too close to the shore. Fuck that.
WTF!! where did all these Texans come from, is there anyone on this site not from Texas, in most Americans opinion (not counting Texas of course) the state is a blight on the country, it should really be allowed to be its own, that way the rest of us won’t have to spend so much money on welfare programs for the state (Texas gets $1.51 for every dollar they pay in taxes). In summary, go to hell Texas.
@kiltedforbes: There was a mass exodus from New Orleans to Texas a few years ago. You do remember that right? @DasMaus: Texas is huge, drive a couple hundred miles west/northwest. Holy shit there are mountains there. I don’t know if you looked at a map…ever but there are NO mountains on the gulf coast. thanks for playing though
I have a small truck
I have a few guns
I hate country music unless it’s a country song done in speed metal or something like that.
Cowboy hats are fine, don’t own one though.
I don’t own a plate as a belt buckle
I somehow got educated enough to work at a nuclear power plant
Cattle are annoying but are funny to see on the side of the road. Unless of course you are on a motorcycle and flys pelt you as you drive through the swarm.
Houston was actually a cool place to live. So is New Orleans but Houston wasn’t built in a swamp
Austin is a fun place to go, so is San Antonio
My hometown of South Padre Island is a sand bar with buildings on it, but at least we were able to drive down the beach build a bonfire, and drink our asses off. Weed was always available too…even if you didnt want it.
The rest of the USA might hate Texas, but Europe loves it; men have manners, women have curves, food isn’t artificial, is has history (proper history), and is free of the existential angst the rest of the states suffer from.
I live in CA. A lot of our tech companies have moved or are moving to Texas.
It’s my aim to end up in Austin eventually. The housing is affordable (in comparison to CA), rate of pay is equivalent to the area I live in and the schools are way, way, WAY better. I’m not a big fan of the weather or the mosquitoes (some parts of Texas have dengue) but the opportunity to actually own a house versus work my ass off to rent a piece of crap apartment in a crappy neighborhood… it seems worth while.
That and it’d be nice to live somewhere where I don’t have to know a second language to order food and people make eye contact.
@...Drunkin: Oh a map! Why didn’t I think of that?
Probably because I drove to Corpus from New Mexico through El Paso and out again through Amarillo and wasn’t impressed with the ‘mountainous’ western part of your state. If you think you have the mountains in Texas itonly because you’re comparing them to the rest of the state. I’m from the Rocky Mountains so if it doesn’t have glaciers/and year-round snowpack it isn’t much of a mountian in my book. You just keep thinking your foothills are mountains and you’ll be fine.
And yeah there’s no state income tax but the state makes up for it in other taxes, worst property tax I’ve ever paid, and pretty high sales tax too.
Grew up in Houston (Katy area). Mother lives next to one of the only shiner/painted breeding ranches in the country (West of Sugarland). Currently live in Austin which is…interesting.
Good people, good food, good fun! Texas is a world unto itself.
Since I’ve always paid CA sales tax, I’m not sure if that is considered high in comparison to other areas. Whenever I visit Austin it just seems normal to me.
I don’t own a truck, but I considered it once.
I was taken to the Rodeo once as a child, against my will.
I hate country music with a passion.
I don’t have any guns, but I’m looking into getting them, on the black market.
Tobacco is crap in all forms.
All booze is good, except beer is significantly less.
We don’t go mudding, we go “hopping”. Get drunk, grab a pickup, everyone piles in the back, and we drive through a field at as many miles per hour as able (probbly around 60) then hit a jump. If you land in the pickup again, you win, if you land outside, you either walk it off, or go to the hospital and get called a pussy.
Drove a Jeep and a Van (doesn’t count? drive a Sentra now)
Don’t have a gun but I will in the future
DO NOT CHEW DIP
Fuck country music
Muddin is fun
Rodeo can kiss my vegan ass
@...DasMaus:
So the property tax is high? Well the houses are cheap in most areas. It usually evens out to be lower than you’d pay elsewhere. Plus the lack of state income tax should be considered as well.
@...outofocus:
Its not high when there’s no income tax. Its on of those great “fair taxes.” Everyone pays the same to the state (plus whatever the city/county charges) and its completely fair.
Texas is ahead of the game, and the technology is DEFINITELY moving here. I work for a network tech company outside Dallas, and we’re acquiring business all over the place. My mom works for a HUGE software distributor. Many of the major companies have a large office here, (Microsoft for example).
@Drunkin, look at a map, there was no where else for them to go that wasn’t destroyed, just because you have the only life raft doesn’t means it a fucking yacht.
@JamesTuskGeorge, have you been to France? They fucking hate the macho cowboy shit. Look at any magazine from Europe, the women are small as hell, not fat like the average American/Texan.
You’re confusing French with French media. French women are petit brunettes, ergo Frenchmen get bored of small dark-haired women. Texan women are big busted and blond.
As for the macho cowboy shit, like I said, Texas has the best and the worst of the USA. Macho shit you can live without, along with bigory, racism and all other kinds of fun found in Texas, but Texas is also full of respect for other people, a genuine friendliness, good manners and all kinds of other virtues, and those are very much admired.
It’s a strange dichotomy, but then life’s strange.
i own a truck
i own a few guns
i have been to numerous rodes
i love country music
we have real mountains
the deer here are not the size of a small dog like they are in Texas.
there are cows all over the place
there is a lot of open range
the nearset large city is over a hundred miles away
and we have 4 seasons instead of one
Great hell boy – do you make friends like this everywhere you go, or is it just on teh internets?
Please illustrate to me where your facts are backed up by the link you sent me. I seem to be missing it, especially when the 3 year old statistics illustrate that the federal tax dollars paid to federal tax dollars received per capita ratio is 97%. Seems pretty balanced to me, but maybe I’m missing something.
@goforbroke (would you mind telling us which state you’re in, please sir?)

Hmm sounds like you are in northern New Mexico or southern Colorado there, goforbroke. Wait, 4 seasons..Wyoming? Texas isnt that bad, it weeds out the weaker tourists before they get here to New Mexico. While it has been ages since I lived in San Angelo and San Antonio, I hear good things from relatives and friends still out there….
@...Dublin0:
You did it wrong! It goes like this:
Holy dogshit! Texas! Only steers and queers
come from Texas, Private Cowboy! And you
don’t look much like a steer to me, so that
kinda narrows it down!
Honestly, I’m from Wisconsin and been to Texas. Nothing wrong with Texas that isn’t wrong anywhere else.
I love Texas, best and worst of what the US has to offer, but if I had to live in the US for the rest of my life it’d be Texas.
ahhhhhhh kill it with fire
I live …… there. Yep, right there.
That makes my heart laugh.

I don’t drive a truck, but my dad & brother both do.
I own a gun. My dad just sold 23 of his and has 41 left. Pistols, rifles, shotguns, and a small canon made of a bulldozer axle.
I don’t and have never chew.
I LOVE country music.
Mudding is fun, but my Lexus car won’t quite make it out to those spots.
I’ve been to one rodeo in my life & it was on accident.
Anyone else’s responses to this informal Texan survey?
“You May All Go To Hell – I’m Going To Texas”
-Davy Crockett!
Love Texas born and raised, no plans of ever moving anywhere else!
actually he died in alamo which was part of mexico at the time
Been mudding before when I had a jeep now I have a car.

Screw Texas, JewYork for teh muthafuckin WIN !!
Shalom aleichem 😀
Live in New Braunfels now, not originally from here. but love Texas. San Antonio area has so much to do. Never boring.
Stinkadena a.k.a. Pasa-Get-Down-dena Whooo!
My name is Joe, and I’m a Texan.

meh…you folks with the negative attitude are kinda funny.
born in Houston and live in the Spring/Woodlands area. The in-laws have a lake house on Lake Austin.
not much in America that you can’t find right here.
as far as pride goes…what IS wrong with being proud of where you are from?
We may not be the best State (well, we are. but for your fragile egos we’ll say maybe), but we sure as HELL ain’t the worst.
I just came here to say Texas sucks!
@kiltedforbes: There was a mass exodus from New Orleans to Texas a few years ago. You do remember that right?

@kiltedforbes Source? I’ll go ahead and blindly call BS on that one.
Gee, I’m from Texas. Had no idea there were this many Texans here.
Fuck Texas!
The rest of the USA might hate Texas, but Europe loves it; men have manners, women have curves, food isn’t artificial, is has history (proper history), and is free of the existential angst the rest of the states suffer from.
proper american history , we stole it from mexico
Yeah I’m getting SICK of these sam houston comcast commercials though.. those fuckers

@...DasMaus: Dammit. “…mountains in Texas IT’S ONLY because…”
@...DasMaus: Sales tax is 8.25% (optional at that rate) www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/sales/index.html
The area I live in in CA is 8.5%.
Since I’ve always paid CA sales tax, I’m not sure if that is considered high in comparison to other areas. Whenever I visit Austin it just seems normal to me.
