Canada is the #9 economy in the world. I was surprised the Texan economy was so strong. California has slipped, though. Before Bush it would have been Germany or China. Maybe even Japan if you include the entire West Coast.

Well damn. Didn’t know New Mexico made that much…there goes our third world image…
Mmm, I saw this before. Very interesting map; pretty cool.
Here’s the “original source” (or at least where I first saw it)
strangemaps.wordpress.com/2007/06/10/131-us-states-renamed-for-countries-with-similar-gdps/
It has some additional information regarding GDP comparisons and such.
What state is the Ireland one?
This is very interesting.
“Virginia – Austria (GDP #24 at $309 billion)” Haha wow. What a strange coincidence. Just earlier, I said I wish I could have been in Virginia.
309 billion… phew I had no clue.
@...colonel-yum-yum: Nevada?
That is really interesting – good post.
I would have thought Texas’ GDP would have been larger though. Versely, I (naively?) didn’t realise quite how big California’s GDP is.
USA is so big it broke the website…it sticks out too far to the right. Something wrong with the tubes?
I love that Pakistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia are as fiscally able as the US States that despise them. XD
CA = worlds third largegst economy a few years ago

At one point, California was the 5th largest economy in the world.
California could have bought a small country at one point.
Maryland = Hong Kong
Hong Kong isn’t a country.
Woohoo! We made Texas!
Canada!! Fuck yeah!!!

You mean Canada! Yee ha!
how ironic that Minnesota gets to be Norway
