As a Bostonian, I can tell you that the roads were made long before the invention of the automobile. We largely just paved the cow paths and built along those. I’m fairly certain New York is so straight because they’re more willing to bulldoze historic landmarks. I mean, they’re Yankees fans. Can’t put anything past Yankees fans.
Charlotte NC has the worst roads evah! Lawyers Rd intersects itself — 4 times. And even a moderate rainfall will bring major flooding to not just the backstreets, but to the interstates and other major thoroughfares. Driving in Charlotte is a nightmare.
