Arguments for fox hunting are:

Most animals trained for the sport (horses, beagals – i.e. the dogs) are trained to such an extent that as a result of the ban, many of them would have to be put down as they wouldnt be able to be put to use anywhere else.

Arguments against fox hunting are: its cruel to foxes. Technically only 1 fox might (triple underlined might) get killed in a hunt.

IMO: Its one fox. They terrorise farmers stock, and there is a population balance of them. If this is cruel, then why not go after the millions of people that eat beef? Surely shoving a bolt into a cows head is cruel as well! Maybe not on the same level, but hundreds or thousands of cattle are killed each week, compared to the several foxes that were when fox hunting was legal.

In actual fact, wasnt this the bill/law that government passed through even though they lost both the votes in the House of Lords and the House of Commons? For sure it would have got struck down in the House of Lords.

I’m not very knowledgable about what happens in a fox hunt, but my understanding was that the biggest reason people are opposed to the act is because of the process. Again, correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard that a fox hunt is more than just killing a fox — it actually involves a chase that can take a very long time, running the fox until it’s too exhausted to keep going. People will keep arguing about killing animals for sport or for food or whatever, but I think we can all agree that terrorizing an animal is an inhumane way to go about doing so.

If foxes are so bad, then the farmers who are disadvantaged by them killing their chickens can poison them or shoot them. Seems a lot more practical than a pack of chinless inbreds “hunting” it with a mass of bloodthirsty dogs and (for some reason) bugles.
