Doh! You’re right. The VP IS the first version. I’ve seen that too. It’s not great either. Has some okay moments. I’ve heard that half of the WS version is pretty good before degenerating into mediocrity.
I’ve seen The Omega Man and Will Smith’s version. Both had their pluses and minuses but I don’t feel that either of them captured the spirit of the ending of the book.
I still like the “Omega Man” version the best, but then I’m a Charleton Heston junky. I’ve got the original lobby poster, the soundtrack CD, the movie on DVD, and my copy of the paperback is in *much* better shape than the one shown above. (Did I mention that I was a junky?)
The book’s great. The (original) film, slightly less so. I haven’t seen the Will Smith version.
By original film do you mean “The Omega Man” or the Vincent Price version “the Last Man On Earth”?
