True, but you’re missing the points of the message:
1-You don’t need people’s acknowledgement to do what you want. Want to sing? Sing! Put it on youtube, get some positive and negative feedback. Who the fuck cares? Just have fun with it! Read it again! It does not say “we started playing to get famous”. It’s basically “we have fun!”
2-You don’t need arrogant Douchebags to tell you in front of millions of people that “You suck!”. Use the “Math Law”: Practice, and get better.
I have to agree with Dave on this one. We could be looking at the end of music in the name of Entertainment (Irony), and in 10 years all #1 singers available are like Lil’ Wayne.
I worked in London during the 90’s in rock-radio – the biggest and most listened to rock-radio of that era. The play-lists of the era included Nirvana, but them being biggest – no, not in this part of the world. In fact, they were barely notable, all I remember is perhaps a couple of songs.
Here, the biggest names of that era were:
Suede, Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, Elastica, The Verve, Radiohead, Travis, Stereophonics, Feeder, etc. – these bands here had full dominance of the airwaves in this part of the world.
Nirvana biggest in the world? What world is that? I know Americans like to believe that the world means America.
Some would find it shocking to find that WWW doesn’t mean “American Wide Web” or “English only” or a “World Series champs” title only includes them and Canada.
good job at missing the point and obsessing on someone’s opinion

actually musicians don’t go on either of those shows, there for wannabe singers. get your facts straight. of course you could use logic and see that only a couple of people have made any kind of career for themselves and yet how many season winners have there been?

Hmmm… anything like Bob Ross and all the artists he created. Now if only they had brain surgery tv or a reality game show for politicians… what a wonderful world it would be.
Agreed, but the internet’s a pretty damn useful tool for getting your music out there if you’re an unknown.
