While I don’t agree with the “fuck off, we’re full” sentiment some Aussies have I’d like to point out that the solution isn’t just going to be ‘build more cities’. Most of the outback is almost inhospitable desert, most of landscape out there just isn’t fit to support large cities, plus it’s very hard to create jobs that far out that aren’t related to mining or agriculture.
There’s actually plenty of undeveloped pefectly good land without pushing into the deserts, but that’s not what this post is about. During the recent election both of the major parties were pandering to racists.

The scale of the distance to potable water is significantly higher for Australia. Same with road distance for production jobs.
