Have to wonder what ever happened to even a pretense of truth in politics. Seems today its about telling so many lies so fast that you swamp the fact checkers.

Why do you hate successful people? What should a nationally syndicated kids show performer with recognized voice acting and puppetry skills make in your sick utopia make?
Not “Hating on ’em”, just acknowledging that Sesame Street is NOT in any danger of going off the air. At WORST, they move to a regular TV Network (and yes, show commercials) and get even richer. See no reason to provide them with a venue (at taxpayer expense) when private enterprise would be more than willing to do the same.

for the most part it’s corporate sponsorships and private donations.
Sesame Street is extremely profitable. The Merchandising alone could probably fund PBS, Forget the movies (the Muppets were launched around Kermit, who started on Sesame St) or the theme parks. There was a thing a while back about why the Jim Henson Company doesn’t profit share with the the network. I don’t know how/if it was ever resolved. PBS would go under without government funding, Sesame St would just move someplace else. Since Disney owns Jim Henson now, my guess is either ABC or the Disney Channel. If it’s ABC, I can see some great marketing to promote the move.
Tiki is right, Sesame Street is well funded, as is Nova and American Experience.
The PBS federal funding mostly goes to keep local stations open in smaller towns. So if Romney does cut PBS funding the big cities likely won’t notice, it the small towns that will get cut.
It’s nice that the whole thing is disintegrating in terms of how much people genuinely care.
