    Basically, the chevron is used to designate which platoon a vehicle belongs in. For instance: 1st platoon (^), 2nd platoon (), and headquarters platoon (). Sometimes you’ll see some with dots or dashes within the chevron, like :>(but picture those two dots being inside of the open part of it), and that can designate the vehicle as belonging to 2nd squad, 1st platoon. That whole system of identification is called the “spinning chevron,” for obvious reasons.

    Er…sorry, screwed up there.

    For instance: 1st platoon (^), 2nd platoon(>), 3rd (v) and headquarters platoon(). Keep in mind it may not be universal–that means that ^ may designate 1st platoon in one unit, but it may mean 3rd in another. But that’s the gist of it, pretty much.
