Crimes, especially violent crimes are much higher in areas with low and highly restricted gun ownership. D.C., Chicago, New York. Even in my state, Philadelphia. Philly being the only place where you can not legally open carry without a license (in the rest of the Commonwealth, open carry is of course legal.) Where I live it is not uncommon to see persons walking around with rifles, during game sessions.

People like to say: AMERICA, like we’re a little European country, or even remotely similar from one end to the other.
My little State (actually a Commonwealth), is 23rd in population. Where I live is culturally Germanic with a huge Anabaptist influenced, (Amish, Mennonite, brethren), with strong Irish undertones. Very open minded, but conservative people, many people abstain from alcohol. About half my township is dry, school is closed for the 1st two days of deer (Buck, rifled).

Go an hour north, and a little west, and you roll into “Coal country” . Everyone in Irish, their dialect is very different, and they are almost all Catholics. There are as many bars are churches, and Fire Dept. are often attached to the bars (a trend that is slowly changing, and completely unthinkable where I live). The idea of a try township is laughable. I have no idea what days they get off school, I’d imagine deer season, and some Catholic holiday.

But as to our topic? Crime. Yes well, people are people, and if I want to kill you I do not need a gun to do so. But where I live such things are rare. They make the paper (published weekly, on Wednesday) , usually a couple of times, when it happens, the next week…as information comes out during court hearings. In between the church events and the new traffic light, the person turning 100 that has not missed a Sunday service in 52 years, the Eagle Scout project to redo the walkway in the park or restore civil war gravestones.
