Well, where do you propose we build? We have to have the port towns. I guess we could relocate to CA. Oh, right–they are still waiting the “big one” earthquake. How about the mid west? Tornadoes ring a bell? Really, there is no perfectly safe place to build. The trick is building back BETTER. Are they doing that? Probably not, unfortunately.
I think one of the biggest travesties involved with the whole situation is how a lot of politicians in Louisiana escaped being blamed for anything that happened.
A lot of powerful people in Louisiana have known for decades that if a strong enough hurricane were to hit southern LA, the results would be catastrophic. Still, nothing was done. And not a single person is being held accountable for it. Sure, most of the blame seems to be directed towards Bush, but this crisis was in the making long before Bush was elected.
FlyingMantisShrimp’s right. I live in LA and honestly, it didn’t hurt my feelings about NO being hit. It’s got some cool sights and history, but its such a nasty, vile city. Yes i felt bad for the people but when i see people stealing TV’s and all the Air Jordans they can carry, claiming to only be “taking what they need” it makes me not care for their plight as much. And now, we in northern LA are picking up the bill for all of this crap.
“George Bush doesn’t care about black people” – Man, that was priceless.
I love how they are re-building on the same fucking site.
IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN!

Here’s a thought….fucking EVACUATE NEXT TIME!
@h_ville
every single time someone says “LA” like you did, I wonder why the fuck someone from Los Angeles would give a flying shit about New Orleans.
