Iguana

This little guy lives near the garden area of the condo. I’m not even sure if he’s an Iguana but the employee’s say that is what he is. Perhaps I missed a bit in the translation.

    I b elieve it is, there’s a lot of those around here. We eat them because they’ve been deemed harmful to crops, the typical name here besides Iguana and Lagarto is “gallina de palo” (a tree chicken/hen) because they’re so common and like every other meat, it supposedly tastes like chicken.

    Yes I believe that this is a green iguana. If he doesn’t get eaten, he should probably stick around. I’d guess a female (for the lack of larger spines) but it’s difficult to tell when they are young. They are territorial and usually stay in a general area. I would worry more about a cat getting him/her until he/she gets bigger. Then he/she can whip a cat with it’s tail. My brother had one named henry that was over 7 feet long. Very docile. I would not own a female though as they tend to be more aggressive.

    Actually, pretty sure males are the more aggressive as they age, due to territoriality and what not.
    That said, all your other info appears accurate.
    I too used to own an iguana – his name was Whip, because when I bought him, the first thing he did upon being chosen out of the group in the terrarium was to tail-whip my lil brother in the face when he got too close.
    Loved that cheeky lil bastard.

    i used to have a green iguana, now i have a spiny tailed iguana. it’s very mean, total asshole. it’s really bad ass looking though. i lurve it.
