True enough, but locks like that (or rather, their simpler brethren) aren’t meant to really keep anyone out. They’re just there to slow down anyone who tries to burst in on you long enough for you to close the door and get it locked properly. Once that’s done, most doors are considerably sturdier than those in the movies. I’m a big guy, and even with a full head of steam charging down the hallway, I still bounced off my sister’s door after she locked herself out.
Those locks are to buy time? I always just figured they were there to make a loud enough noise should anyone try to open the door that you’d know something was up. I never checked into it, though. I just kinda thought that on my own.
It would be kind of cool if people did some background work before submitting images. Like, if you Google images for “lock maze” you find that the first four hits are to this same image. It’s a kind of a clue to whether or not a given image is so old everyone else has seen it a million times already.
But of course, that is just too fucking much to ask.
I want nothing more than to have that on me own door.
I think this sort of lock is for keeping those lovely ladies IN. You know most blonds will never make it out!
OLD PICTURE IS OLD
“Shame a good shoulder will just break it.”

These things aren’t so cool if there’s a fire.
