Charles Whitman also had a tumor that may have contributed to his actions. It makes me wonder how many criminals are literally sick and just need treatment. Instead we just lock them up and throw away the key.
So is the guy now completely devoid of sexual desire now? Or just the obsession. Not sure about this one….Is his doctor also his lawyer or buddies with him? I might have to call bullshit. It said he had “sudden uncontrollable paedophilia”. So the tumor “sudden(ly)” appeared and he was instant pedobear? Did he suddenly grow fur and a disturbing bear-like smile?
They’ve done studies, and violent criminals have a much higher likelihood of having higher levels of lead in their body. Which is not surprising since most violent criminals also come from the ‘wrong side of the tracks’, ‘the run down side of town’, and in those areas levels of toxic metals and pollution are usually higher.
Yea man, that crack pipe I bought last week on the wrong side of the tracks was made in China and had lead paint on it. Not like the crack pipes on the nice side of town.

The refining of Insanity as a defence had to come about with advances in medical science. More of it, I think, and interesting then you get a much more black and white punishment vs rehabilitation divide in regards to criminals.

as to the “sudden” aspect, i do know that tumors can exist and grow with no effect, until a “magic” cutoff point occurs, when the switch is flipped and, in this case apparently, BAM welcome to pedophiliaville. Think of it like a light switch-
you can move the switch most of the way down before it cuts the power to the bulb.
as to the victims’ families, it sucks, but IF it’s true, it’s just like any legitimate case of the blame falling on nature rather than premeditation or normal responsibility.
I would keep the guy under a specially trained surveillance team for years after the fact though- it does seem. . . convenient.
