I loved those damn books, but the movie, not so much.

    The radio series, which was how it was before the books, was even better.  It was what became the first two books.  A couple of years ago, they reassemble the original radio series cast and made the last three books into a radio series.  Did a good job of it, too.

    The movie worked well as a complement to the book. It didn’t stand up well on its own, and it wasn’t as funny as the book, but as long as you’ve read the books, and don’t expect it to be great, it’s at least enjoyable.

    The movie was enjoyable, and I thought the casting was great. Mos Def as Ford made me nervous at first, but he really pulled it off pretty well. The books are priceless to me- they’re how I met my husband. Our anniversary is April second– 4/2 🙂

    I never knew there was a radio series before the books. I must look into this. But yes, the movie was good, it just cant hold a candle to the books and/or the supposed radio series, I assume.

    Let me set you fellas straight.

    THHGttG has had multiple forms. Radio series, books, TV series, Infocom text adventure computer game, movie…

    Every time it changed media, the plotline changed. You can’t really compare the movie to the books because Douglas Adams insisted on differences (he wrote the screenplay for the movie, ya know).

    So stop your BAWWWWWWWing and enjoy the damn movie.

    Fun fact: the robot standing in line in the Vogon office? That was the TV series version of Marvin. I shit you not.
