Well the finns were fighting on their homeland – so a good advantage here. And the russian army was a mass of conscripts who bareley knew how to use a spoon let alone operate any warfare equipment.
Many points to the Finnish for their practical victory – then again, Russian tactics usually don’t lend themselves to low casualties, so I’m not sure who gets the credit, or blame, for these statistics.
Consider that there was never a declaration of war between Soviet Russia and Finland. However, the countries that declared war against Finland were United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I guess they were far enough to realize it was safe.
Those fucking Ski Troops man. That war was one of the greatest examples of the importance of strategy and quick movement ever. The only reason military historians don’t come their pants over that war is because it was mainly defensive, and so they can’t escape into their World Conquering dream worlds to crush out their bleak, sexless Military Historian existance.

They kicked ass and took names. They didn’t ask for Lend-Lease or a war loan or 600 cargo ships of American equipment. They just went to the front with what they had. Balls.
I always thought they’d be tough bastards in battle. They are decended from the Vikings after all. Would not mess with any of them.
Finland used 250,000 men, 30 tanks, and 130 aircraft to kill, maim, capture, and apparently abduct nearly 900,000 of the Russians.
they also took out over 2200 tanks with their 30.
viking, fo sho
Vikings come from Sweden and Norway, not Finland.
D’oh! fuckn vikings
