ixnay on the onventionscay,coolghoul. If people knew all the stuff that goes on at a con, we’ll get invaded by a bunch of poser-nerds looking for a piece of tail.
I hate to break this to you. You know the one about how ‘there’s always one weirdo on the bus, and if you don’t see him’…
I mean, it’s not like there’s an inexhaustible supply of poser nerds in the world. You say ‘invasion’, I say ‘convention’. I think the rest of us pretty much know what goes on there.
I’m sure band camp is a lot of fun, too. But thanks anyways.

This is what I’m talking about. No offense, Phyreblade, but a True Nerd would dress up a Klingon and be seen in public just because its fun and to show-off the detail of his costume. A poser-nerd just does so to hang out with ladies like this.
Sorry, reboot. No more Con photos. I just couldn’t resist this one since all those “Leia” pics had been posted earlier. Anyway, isn’t this every Sci-fi geeks wet dream come true?
I’m being kind of factious, coolghoul, I like the picture and its not like I make the rules here.
The last few cons I’ve gone to, (PAX, E3 a couple years back) I’ve noticed contingents of people who are more interested in the girls than in games. I’m a little grouchy about that because it ruins the spirit of a con and I wish those people would just go to a strip club on theme night, that’s all. I like sexy pictures, though, so keep posting.
im all for conventions when games and women are involved but i think you forget yourself on this one. i meean im sure you feel good about getting self righteous on this one but you must remember people like hot women and if a group of them start a pillow fight – power to them. and if people want to be insanely wierd and sad and try to pick up at a convention let them im sure lots of people are very happy to do so. but i agree with you on one thing you like having people attend something that they feel passionate about and then you may share your passions with.
@The Matrix: Rebooted
Dood, nerds existed long before the trekcons, comicons, dragoncons, otakons, botcons, etc… This is not what defines nerdom. In fact, this is a recent phenomenon that more poser nerds are likely to attend than real nerds.
Don’t presume to have the lockdown on nerddom… if you like to do this, then cool, more power to you, but I don’t see why I have to dress up like a fictional character to show “nerd pride”.

See, pictures like this are the only reason I find it socially acceptable to dress up like a Klingon and be seen in public.

@coolghoul, oops, I guess my sarcasm detector wasn’t working.
Um, there’s a picture of a room full of babes dressed as Leia and you’re having some puerile argument?
Can anyone see anything wrong with this picture, and no, not the Leia one.

Nerds who cosplay usually ARE the nerds who are more interested in costume detail than in scantily-clad women.
