The previews look awesome. I believe it’s done by the same people who did Narnia, and the quality was exceptional. As an added bonus, Nicole Kidman looked rather tasty.
I’m expecting some kind of gif image of either the monkey getting slapped, or when the ice falls down in front of gandalf with a “You shall not pass!”.
The movie was good. But I’ve read the books and was disappointed in some of the scenes we didn’t get to see. Overall – good movie, but moved to fast and was a little jumpy. There were a few scenes where the bears looked like coca cola commercials.
It looks like a fucking anime. Frankly, if I want to see a movie made from a Japanese cartoon, it would be one of the kick ass, Tokyo-gets-destroyed-repeatedly ones like Akira, not one of the crappy Victorian ones like Steamboy.
@gravmark
It’s Nicole Kidman, James Bond, and polar bears. Henceforth, “The Golden Compass” must be described like that. In that order. All the time. Every time.
@RSIxidor
You do know that those bears are the same actors from the coca cola commercials right?
@lee7
LOL Heks Yeah! Call me what you will, but Ye Gods! Casshern Rawked!!! 😀
@lee7: No but I just looked it up, and it’s on my to-do list. It’s even got a Utada Hikaru soundtrack. I’ve only heard her English songs but she’s the hottest sleazy R&B singer in the world.
I’m still crossing my fingers for James Cameron’s Battle Angel Alita. I saw the OVA, and knowing what the dude can do with FX and female characters, there’s no way that’s going to be bad.
Is it gay?
No.
It’s got James Bond and polarbears.

“Look. These are my boobies”
My boobies.
Let me show you them.

My boyfriend complained the whole way there because he expected it to be a children’s movie. I mean, it IS supposed to be a children’s movie.
Then there’s this polar bear fight.
And a little “cut”.
He loved it.
