@Stolid, Gravity is the force that pulls bodies together proportionally to their mass. That IS the definition of gravity. It just an observed fact and we gave a name to it.
The Theory of Gravity(including GR), OTOH, is the set of equations that have been derived to describe how such a force operates. It’s true in the sense that the predictions have been tested and found consistent with experiment. GR is one of the most tested theories ever and it has passed every test so far. So until you can come up with an experiment where something acts in a way that is not consistent with the Theory of Gravity, it is assumed to be true.
Now go back to 4th grade and learn something about the scientific method.
@Stolid, so you are acknowledging that there is a force that pulls bodies together proportional to their mass, right? That’s just an observation from repeated experiment. It doesn’t matter whether we call that force gravity or goowhatzit. There’s nothing in your statement to prove and you’re just arguing semantics.
WTF? Are you still seriously talking about proving gravity exists? You truly ARE illiterate.
OK.. I’ll spell it out for you; you’ve accepted the “Law of Gravity” because someone told you a bunch of experiments were done, you believed it. You didn’t do the experiments yourself, and yet you still believed it. Gravity is not the point. The acceptance of things not definitively proven is the point. I.E, not everything must be proven to be believed. Damn.
“WTF? Are you still seriously talking about proving gravity exists? You truly ARE illiterate.”
Im sorry the definition of illiterate is as follows straight from webster…
1: having little or no education; especially : unable to read or write
2 a: showing or marked by a lack of familiarity with language and literature b: violating approved patterns of speaking or writing
3: showing or marked by a lack of acquaintance with the fundamentals of a particular field of knowledge
so how is one illiterate or even have to do with debating whether or not gravity exists again?
@Stolid, I am a PhD candidate in quantum chemistry. I have done literally hundreds of experiments based on the predictions of general relativity (relativistic solutions to the Schrodinger equation). Guess what, they all worked.
HHmmm. A PhD Candidate… has what to do with belief? Still missing the point. This has nothing to do with gravity or science. That was just an analogy. It has to do solely with belief.
Who cares about your paperwork credentials when you can’t seem to get the point. They are completely invalidated by your inability to perceive an analogy. That is, if they exist.. detect my disbelief without proof? And to preempt, don’t bother.. I don’t care.
@Stolid, No, this is really interesting.
You disbelieve my credentials. Fair enough, I haven’t proven them.
So do you disbelieve everything that you have no proof for?
Are there somethings that you believe without proof (ie Faith) but other things you disbelieve until given proof? How do you sort out the difference? What do you consider enough proof?
BTW, I don’t care that you don’t care.
Hey moron, jump. See how you landed your fat ass back to earth, thats called gravity. Okay now try praying, see how nothing actually happened? Thats called religion.
i lol’d
No shit!
Belief – Proof = Faith
Prove it’s gravity and not some other force that is keeping you on the ground.
This is going to be interesting…
Don’t compare gravity to “santa clause” and other make believe characters.
Your saying “prove gravity is there”
Well, science has.
Prove god exists.
Don’t think science can do that, or for that matter, anyone.
get him

I find your lack of faith disturbing… LOL.
Your… Second person possessive form of “you”
You’re… fucking illiterate.
I said prove it is not something else…
If it could be proven, it wouldn’t be faith. Remember me typing this? Belief – Proof = Faith

OH… so you CAN read, you’re just an idiot.

Kero ftw xD
LOL..this keeps getting funnier!
MCS ftw 😉
Keep this goin, this is good shit.
@Stolid
Applause. Really, great tactic. When all else fails, when you know you’ve been outwitted, use grammar. No one can prove that grammar doesn’t exist.
You are what’s wrong with the world. Not your faith, faith is A-OK, even though I’m an atheist. It’s the fact that you’re stupid as a box of rocks.
I think I am number 20… 🙂
I am not overly faithful myself, but it’s good to know that if there is a god, He’ll remind us of this conversation!
And it is OK to be an atheist.. God doesn’t believe in atheists either.
Why are you still posting in this thread. I beleive I’ve already beaten it. The last boss was easy.
Why are you?
Is pedro there?
No, but I did vote for him..
Your supposed to say “are you guys having a killer time”
Soundboards ftw 😉
SB has always hurt my eyes.. my screen rez is too high..
