Heavy toll. More Americans than ever are now overweight, and one in three adults is obese. Children are growing fatter even faster. Obesity and diabetes “are the only major health problems that are getting worse in this country, and they are getting worse rapidly,” says Thomas R. Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The trends add urgency to improving nutrition and exercise at home, schools and workplaces.

Ahhh being in perfect shape…….Feels good man.
jesus christ nyoki, insert the thumbnails, not the large image!
Ah, you fixed them; thank you. I was gonna go back to reformat them, but then no pic would have showed and it still would’ve been too big. I much prefer going in thru the regular submit page, that auto formats the pics.
Thank you high fructose corn syrup!
I’ve known that 5% of people account for 50% of health costs, but if this how it is, shouldn’t it end up like car insurance? I’m a biological “safe driver;” underweight, eat well, don’t get sick often, never abuse the system, no meds or liabilities — if giving me decent coverage at a lower price became an option, would the majority decide that a bias was created against them?
Yep.
Mandating car insurance does not create safe drivers or cheaper insurance. It makes money, for insurers.
Unless you develop cancer or get AIDS. Just because you’re healthy, doesn’t mean you’re not a risk. The actuaries would have to factor in your lifestyle too, and some how know all your darkest secrets.
That’s an extremely good point, though if the same were applied to car insurance (still in that mode of thought from comment 2) they’d be into way more of my information than simply how often I get pulled over or hit anything.
For instance, I get discounted car insurance simply for inclusion in college honor societies, but good test grades don’t mean I’m not a road hazard. For all they know I’m driving with my knees and studying on the way. I’d imagine some generalities to be made. Still though, you make a fine point. My wisdom teeth alone caused some serious medical expenditure, wish I had insurance at THAT time.
You’re more at risk to get AIDS of course if you’re gay or black. So if you’re not gay or black then you will live longer.
Fat people, black people, and gay people SHOULD pay more for healthcare. They use it more so pay more for it.
YOU’LL TAKE MY DEEP FRIED BEER FROM MY COLD DEAD CHUBBY HANDS!
Actually it isn’t eating fat that is making us fat.
BMI is bullshit.
Illustrated guide:
Calculate you own BMI:

And some thought out reasoning of why it’s bullshit:

The obesity myth??? are you kidding me? doesn’t matter if bmi is bullshit. When all I see is fat people everywhere I don’t need a fucking chart to tell me America has an obesity problem.
Didn’t say it was a myth, just a bullshit way of “defining” it. I wholeheartedly agree that america is chock full of some fatasses. I just don’t agree with how the government measures them.
I don’t agree with your sources.
The above chart comes from Scientific American.
Your last source is fucking obamafailblog.
Agree or don’t agree..your opinion doesn’t mean shit to anyone either than you. Even less once you abandon reality, fatass.
“other than you” FTFY
My opinion is really the only one that matters to me, ergo yours don’t mean shit either. So go have a rage induced coronary on me. Cheers!
