Why is it always the head? There are people who got shot in the head IRL and survived; and zombies are already dead. Shattered femur, now that’s a larger target and would surely stop them in their tracks.
If we have learned anything from World War Z, it is better to make sure they don’t move any more when you have the chance, than shooting them somewhere below the belt so they come crawling later when you don’t expect it and bite you in your juicy ankles.
Haha oh you’re totally right. It’s only that, I read World War Z after I saw Zombieland so I completely forgot about that. Definitely the best visual guide. Man now I want to see it again.
Because you want to destroy it’s brain so it can’t function. That’s where it gets it’s thirst for brains and how it controls itself. And you don’t use melee weapons like in WWZ because you risk contamination.

Because it is canon.
blasphemer!
To “kill” a zombie, you must destroy the brain or sever the brain stem. It’s very difficult to sever the brain stem by shooting someone in the femur.
I think he meant so that they would be almost immobile but yeah I already argued against that below.
Given the opportunity, I’d happily camp out in quarantine with dieAntagonista!
You know it. I even know of PLENTY methods to make the time pass faster… like boardgames!
CAN I COME?
I INSIST

Double Tap.

Can I still shoot my neighbors who AREN`T zombies, in the head?
I really, really want to.
A preemptive strike… good thinking!
Why is it always the head, and not the heart or spleen?
Awesome idea for a movie: zombies that have to be killed by destroying the prostate.

Unless the zombies and skeletons are being controlled by the magic of a necromancer. Then there is no issue of contamination.
I reckon. I was going by a biological perspective. Mostly because I never met a necromancer.
IIRC there was a character that was blind and had a katana that survived for a good bit.
I think I’m going to re-read that book.
I think he just used a walking stick. But yeah, I’d rather have a gun.
Reminds me of the signs I saw in the zombie movie “FIDO”.
“Dad! You shot Zombie-Flanders!”
“He was a zombie?”
