When we did simulated combat exercises in our Abrams, we had “cannon simulators” that we used. (They’re quite fun when you rig about 12 of them together and blow them up outside the commanders TOC.)
So my educated guess is that they’re mounted for training purposes, to simulate the actual cannons firing.
The barrels of the pieces look like they could be anti aircraft, since they’re not very big. Maybe a heavy flak gun?
It is a Chinese Type 59 57mm anti aircraft artillery piece. The AK is a training aid for basic familiarization. They load the rifle with a ballistically similar tracer cartridge to the actual gun and shoot at things like kites. It is both cheaper and less dangerous than using live ammunition. The gun is long obsolete and is only still used by reserve units. This sort of tracer setup used to be a lot more common worldwide with both small artillery and things like recoiless rifles, though the setup is typically a lot less improvised than what is shown here.
It’s future thread time.
Let’s do the timewarp again.
Ir’s always future thread time when you have MCS+ 😀
I don’t have MCS+. Why can I see this?
You must be new here.
The answer is Tiki’s drunk.
