No, the long list of servers on the right which are trying to track whoever is browsing the page. You can also block those trackers with Ghostery, another FF plugin.
blockign everything that says “allow X” on it, so all I’m permitting is two of them.
what it means is that when you visit a website, most people think that they’re just loading content from that one website. in this example, there’s FOURTEEN other sites that you’re loading shit from. do you trust all of them? should you expect to trust all of them? even here on MCS there’s sometimes up to 10 different sites that try to load. It’s not so bad now that google’s adsense isn’t around, but it’s still a stretch to expect people to just trust ANY website to be safe, and for them to make smart decisions as to what they’re going to force on their users.
I’d like to think that I’m in control of what I’m loading up in my browser. it’s a crazy I idea, I know.
It’s the opposite, the poll and the google counter are the only things they AREN’T blocking, since the option for them on the list is to block them (meaning they aren’t now). The options for the others are to permanently or temporarily unblock them.
Huh?
yea, I’d never heard of it before I joined here, now I don’t browse without it.
People who use Explorer have likely never heard of noscript.
What are you blocking, a poll and a Google counter?

Why would this negatively affect you?
Do YOU want anyone knowing you visit the Fox News web site?? :O
😀
It doesn’t just hit those things, which are minor inconveniences, but can speed your browsing by getting rid of ads and extra crap.
because they could just as easily include js from a bad site that wants to do bad things to you.
Like what? Please, give me solid examples and not things I would hear from a paranoid online n00b.

So isn’t the answer for this to have a decent anti virus/firewall (as it should’ve been from the get-go)?

NoScript is my friend and has been for a while now.
I love No Script. I’ve been using it for years. My fav. add-on.
Yay No-Script! I use it everywhere I use a computer and have forced my parents to use it cause I was tired of fixing their shit needlessly.
