I shot this with an Olympus C-4040 (4MP) with I think an 820nm filter, and about a 3 second exposure. It was about 6pm with the sun setting behind the camera. Most modern cams have a strong IR cut filter built into the cam, but the C-4040 and C-2020’s had weak cut filters and you could take IR, but not off hand. You can get cams modified so they will take IR at “normal” speeds, but it’s a tad expensive. I’m saving up to get my D3000 modified, but it’s gonna run about $400 just for the mod. The other thing about IR is it takes a bunch of post processing (mostly channel swaps and other color tweaks).
