Remember the last time NASA used Metric ?
They cratered that thing because the flight system thought
it was in miles not KM’s…reality is funnier than fiction…
I think it is a financial reason why we don’t use the metric system. Changing mile markers, speed limits, exit signs, and speedometers would cost a fortune. Plus, we’re stupid as fuck to learn something new.
no, it wouldn’t cost a god damn thing. my truck already has Km on it, all we’d need to do is educate people on what’s what and just phase it in. speed limit signs are changed out every so often anyways right?
so why not add this economic stimulus to our economy now?
Canada’s been metric for a while now but everyone I knew there still measured people in feet and pounds. Like, it’s fine for me to describe a room as so and so meters but I couldn’t tell you how tall I am. One ninety or something.
Anyway, you’re standing with some lofty giants there americans.
Watch Top Gear, they still talk about miles per hour. Same up in Canada. So if they’re not using it, why should we? Oooh, everything divides by 10, so fuckin’ awesome!
in Canada we use km/hr, not miles per hour. tho in conversation we replace km/hr with miles per hour. SO we’ll say “i was goin 130 miles and hour down the 401”, but we mean 130 km/hr
Actually, the United States uses both systems. Check the dimensions in a recent Government Motors service manual or the two scales on an automobile speedometer. The only difference is that the rest of the world dictates the metric system as the official government standard while people still use their traditional units as well. An excellent example is the unit of weight called the “catty”. Wikipedia notes it’s still in use despite their governments claiming to be metric.
Countries like the UK are smart about which system they use. Take temperature. We say Fahrenheit when it is hot, and Celsius when it is cold. Distances are all in miles, unless it is engineering/science related.
Amerifags are useless at mathematics so they can’t be arsed to learn to divide by 10 rather than 12, 6, 32 and 1609.344. Heck the US make it arsebackwards on themselves by using a different fucking pint and gallon measurement for fluids.
In Canada:
Everything come packaged in metric but when cooking we use tablespoon and cup.
We measure speed in Km/h but long distance in miles.
we weight things in metric and people in lb and kg.
We measure horizontal things in metric and vertical thing in feet.
Weather outside is in C but we use F for cooking.

Engineers and Scientists both use metric i personally don’t care for it.
Soon there’s going to be a system of measurement that surpasses both anyway in less than 10 years that people will adopt
America FUCK YEAH
INCHES FOR LIFE BITCHES
Err… America has mostly adopted the metric system. In fact, ALL OF AMERICA but USA.
those silly yankees
go Liberia!
Strong standards do not official backing to be put into use. I am sure there are plenty of housewives in Britain still using the Imperial.
BULLSHIT, and fuck you for your anti-metric thoughts and how much you want to destroy mars observers.
They still use things like miles (incl. miles per hour) colloquially, but for the most part anything official is in metric.
Exactly. Who ever heard of a 20 centimeter dildo?
I guess somewhere around 6,800,000,000 – 400,000,000 people.
I’m sure they verb, too. What was the missing one in your first sentence?
And yet we are the only country that has robots and future missions to mars.
Japan has more robots then we do.
We got more nukes than they have.
Yet you don’t have universal healthc– fuck wait nevermind
Well it’s better than what they had, but it still sucks compared
to most other nations…
No we still don’t have universal healthcare. We have universal ” you must purchase insurance ” healthcare.

and Mechas and Tentacle monsters that rape little girls
Those guys DO use metric, though.
Yes, and surely you think the scientist send the robots using foots and inches.
I think they use miles.
*feet
Yeah, feet, thanks.
You have “future missions to mars”? Shit, everyone’s got that. Hey, know what I got? Future Million Dollars, right here!

CUZ MM ARE FOR MAH BULLETS
…and if you need to repair your truck, you’ll prolly need metric tools.

Is that Burma?
The US still officially calls it Burma cuz it doesn’t recognize the current government there, but the rest of the world’s gotten over it.
I thought it was Burma too and I’m from the UK. Although I might just be a moron.
What does it call itself? Myanmar (sp)?
Well at least we can say it’s used on 3 continents!
It’s used in every continent, bro.

I-19 in So. Arizona is signed in metric (though I think they’re changing it back).
So, folks were doing 112 in a 70mph zone?
Also, engineering feet FTW.
The speed signs are in MPH still, but all the mileage (kilometerage?) signs are in meters or km.
“I don’t want a large Farva. I want a goddamn litre o’ cola!”
It doesn’t look like antarctica has adopted metric either! 🙂
Hah, there’s 4 countries who still uses it. Because we’re cooler and special
USA USA !!
Only 193 left to go.
america is for faggots
America is ‘special’
*cough* short bus *cough*
AMERICA GAVE BOTH YOU FAGGOTS THIS FINE WEBSITE
I’m pretty sure Tiki did that.

US is retarded. Where’s the news about that?
Drug dealers, users, and patients use the metric system.
Stupid map is stupid.
