I’ve never owned anything Apple. Not for any reason other than price. Schools I’ve worked at have used Macs (they got for free) and they’re good I guess. It’s just that if it can’t really be used as a computer, it’s not worth it.
All that said, this looks really cool. I may actually buy it in a few months when we know what we’ve really got. This is coming perilously close to the things I pictured (and really, really wanted) about computers in the 80s.
The price seems pretty damn excellent for an Apple product. Compare it to iPod touch and iPhone, which it’s basically a large version of, the price looks good. Compare it to products from any other company and … Not so much. Also, I want an app for this that turns it into a star trek datapad.
So it’s a jumbo-sized iPod with the same video capabilities as a Zune HD, and the only other feature it brings to the table is that it comes with iWork and an app for taking notes. Pass.
One question: Why the hell didn’t they just make it a full blown tablet laptop? The screen’s big enough for it to run a normal OS and it’s not like everybody doesn’t already have an iPod.
I don’t have an iPod and i don’t need it. The vast majority of apple products are useless to me, not to mention overpriced. However, i could be persuaded to buy an ipad if it came with camera, usb ports and memory card reader. As it is now, to me, it’s another useless junk from apple.
I like the comment Jobs made about netbooks being slow cheap laptops. Then went on to say how this was a netbook killer at laptop prices with a slower processor than a netbook and no keyboard. If you are mac fan then build a hackintosh with a dell mini you can do more and it’s far more portable. I think if they made a netbook with multitouch running windows 7 it would be far more usful than this iNewton apple have just released.

Looks too heavy, and apple hardware is shite as far as I’m concerned.
I have an iPod Touch. I love it, I use it all the time. I have books, games, movies, tv shows, music and wifi on it. However, it’s pocket sized which makes it much more useful than an iPad. The iPad is too big to be useful to me, if I need something bigger than my iPod, chances are I have a computer in reach. If I’m somewhere where I don’t have a computer in reach, chances are I wouldn’t have the iPad with me either. But I almost always have my iPod Touch with me.
OMG, $500? Didn’t they learn from Sony, with the PS3 costing $500+ when there are cheaper options… although maybe more people will want to buy it since its Apple-brand. But I can build a gaming desktop for that price. But of course I can’t take that desktop with me… anyway, not interested.
$499 is overpriced to me. But it’s still Apple poo and I would rather have my netbook.
Plus you should buy first gen gadgets anyways.
Now you can fap to your disgusting, nasty ass, fetish porn wherever you go…
IN HIGH DEF!

Fail paragraph is fail.
3rd sentence should have started a new paragraph. At that point I’m referring to the iPad.
the beginning of the data slates from Warhammer 40K
Dumbass. I hope you don’t think 40k’s tablets came first…

I’ll wait a few months for the price to drop to 300.
If it dose not support flash… as seen in the live demo today… it’s worthless.. wait for the competition…..
Do you wish your iPhone was bigger, and couldn’t make phone calls anymore? Well now you can!
When I saw this, I thought it was a joke…
“Oh, haha. Someone photoshopped a big ipod touch”
That about sums up what I think about the name and the product itself.

That’s to say, I’d rather take a Wall-E over an EVE, because quite frankly the former can at least be freely modified and easily repaired.

Although I’m not too excited about the iPad, I am very excited to see how Google is going to decimate it with their own version.
I’ve ordered two 🙂 fuck you windows loving retards.
One for the bathroom, the other for your Apple Shrine?
Wait for the HP Slate. Runs Windows 7.
As regards the iPad, it has a 1 gb processor. And that’s it. No dedicated video or audio chips. Everything has to run off that 1 gb, and that’s shit.
It’s not that hard when you force people to only run one app at a time.
