It’s topmodern! no electricity needed, just turn the handle a few times and it will play for a while! And if you break the needel, dont worry! they are made out of wood, so just take out your knife and make a new one!
It’s easy as that =)
Great find, nix! Not quite steam punk but, hey,
no worries about EMP when the nukes come.
It’s 78 rpm only, but you can find them on eBay.
The speaker is on the stylus arm, and you should
replace the wooden stylus (needle) with sapphire –
not expensive.
Probably bamboo. I found a similar player in a friend’s old lake house and it had a little drawer full of replacement bamboo needles –which, according to the directions, you had to sharpen, like, every third playing.
I actually have a bunch of needels of different typs and material, the box laying on top of the records is full of them =)
Now, i just need someone who can adjust the stylus arm, cuz its to heavy and “stops” the record!
But all other mechanics is operating without any problem =)
Simply magnificent. God how I wish I could find stuff like that at my grandparents’ house.
um, there’s no way that’s new
Where’s the mixer? I bet you can scratch like a pro with that!

PS… it’s worth a lot of $$$, if restored 🙂
Gorgeous.

Very cool, though.
