It wasn’t part of the actual curriculum (it should have been but wasn’t) but our U.S. Government teacher in high school made sure we could all at least fill out the 1040 form. There was even a test on it. But yes, you should be learning how to do your taxes in high school.

I don’t know if he was right or not but told us that if our taxes were more complicated than the 1040 that we were probably in a financial situation where we could pay to have someone else do our taxes.

Same teacher also made sure we all registered to vote when we turned 18.
