I’m not sure how I missed it, but this isn’t a fairy tale story, it’s a story about fairy tale stories, and the titular school is to train the future fairy tales of the world. As a Netflix film, it’s done well enough to be watchable, but I’m not entirely sure this would have done very well in movie theaters. There’s enough star power here though to have made an impact I think. It’s well enough out of my wheelhouse that I don’t have a high opinion of it, but I bet if you’re into this type of fantasy / fairy tale stuff you just might like this one.

My kid who loved the book had their first experience with hating the movie adaption of this one. It was kind of funny to listen to them rant about all the changes.
I had no clue it was based on a book, but now that you say that, I can definitely see the huge gaping holes in the plot that would be there from a careless adaptation
