I almost got fired for closing the store like this one time. Although mine was for an injury sustained while working and I had to call an ambulance. I called the store manager, other stores, and even the district manager and no one was willing to come so I locked the doors called the squad, then called safety and security and told them I was closing the store and would be going out the back door so the alarm would be triggered and they could safely ignore it. They tried to give me shit so the ambulance driver took the phone from me and said told them, “we have to take him NOW. deal with it!” and hung up on them.
When the district manager told me I was lucky to still have a job I told him he was lucky my worker’s compensation claim wasn’t denied or I’d see his ass in court during my lawsuit as he was one of the people that refused to do anything about the situation while I was bleeding all over the place.
I don’t give a shit if the station is located Podunk, Nowhere on a Tuesday at 3AM there should never be a single person on a shift.
