“This is a bunch of cornball hooey!”
That’s an actual quote from the movie, and it’s completely accurate. This is a movie filled with cornball hooey, which if you’ve seen the original tv or any of the half dozen made for tv movies that were either sequels or reboots, you knew to expect this. The lights are garish, the special makeup is way over the top, the costumes are fantastically cartoonish, and the script is absolute cornball hooey.
I was among the many people that saw the trailer for it and thought it would be an absolute disaster, but I’m happy to report it’s a faithful and heartfelt relaunch of the franchise. Due to the reception the trailer received, I doubt we’ll see much more of this particular cast and crew, but if that’s so, then it’s a damn shame.
